[20.24.06] <Synn> ask j0de
Apparently, Synn had asked j0de to name one Finnish coach who wasn't a "fouling bastard", and j0de had named me. I guess j0de was wrong.
Are all Finns fiendish foulers? That's certainly the stereotype, and sure, I know many Finnish coaches who love to foul just for the kick of it, and just like j0de, I can't really name any Finn who completely refuses to foul.
But a "fouling bastard"?
I'd say that the consensus among Finns is that fouling is a part of the game and a valid tactic. There is some disagreement, however, whether or not you should foul just for fun whenever you get the chance.
All my teams get at least one dirty player at some point. It should be obvious to the opponent that I also use them, especially when I play with elves against some bashy team. But I don't foul just for the kick of it - I make strategic fouls that are actually of some use, trying to take out an important player, trying to level the field, and so on. Of course, I never complain if the foul actually results in a rip, apo fail - actually it makes me very, very happy...
Erhm. The point was, I don't foul just for fun. There's always a reason to my fouling. I won't make a turn 16 foul, for example. Unless I can prevent someone from scoring by fouling him, of course. Or I'm lacking the 2nd casualty for the FF roll. Or the player is some mutant freak that deserves to die. Or my opponent is an orc team, 'cause orcs are just lame. Or I want revenge for the blitzer my opponent killed earlier. Or I just feel the match hasn't been violent enough. Or...
Err...
Oh come on, you don't actually expect that I wasted a skill to take dirty player and then I won't even use the skill?
