Statistics and how to use them
I'm of the humanist statistics school. That doesn't mean much to most people. What it means to me is that as opposed to my more mathematically inclined colleagues I'm more into making assumptions based on the facts and presenting them in interesting ways.

Looking at my own fumbbl stats then:

I pass more than my opponents.
I foul less.
I block almost as much but damage less.

What to assume? I obviously play more scoring than bashing teams. But also it probably means I do more risky passes. As my interception stats also indicate. Also my completions are lower percentagewise than my opponents. Which probably means I also pass longer and with less adequate players than my opponents. Blocking as much as the opponent is expected. Most coaches always take a sure block instead of dodging away. The damage ratio is probably caused by not playing av9 teams for the most part even in the box. But fouling less? With lower av than my overall opponent I should probably be fouling far more. Also to discourage stalling.

So with this short jaunt in statistics I've improved my style.

Passing is fine but make sure you have a slight chance of succeeding.

Foul more. No more being a nice guy. Do unto the enemy what they do unto you. And preferably before they do it.

I don't hate you. But from now on I will foul you on any turn you have the ball and don't move towards my endzone at full speed. Probably the most valuable player I can get my hands on.

Damn I hate stalling.

Don't know the stats on it... but your aversion to stalling..? If you 180 that the way you 180'd your opinion on fouling, you do even better...

1 space passes when you're in the process of clearing the pitch of your opponents remains?... that increases your passing percentage. Blocking the crap out of one guy with half your team while two or three hover near the goal line with the ball securely tucked away... I bet that increases your damage to opponent too.

You can hate stalling, but if you access the cold-hearted part of you that likes numbers in your favor... you'll find it's pretty sweet. :)

i think he meant that he hates being stalled against....

Hear hear on your fouling tactics! IMHO that's the way fouling should be used. Entice your opponent to do what you want them to do (i.e. score quickly).

But there are those who think that fouling is an enticement to make you stand all your players back up so they can be knocked back down by ST 5 Mighty Blow/Claw/RSC freaks of nature! That's always fun for me :)

I also took it to mean he hates being stalled against, but if not, then see Jeffro's comments.

"I don't hate you. But from now on I will foul you on any turn you have the ball and don't move towards my endzone at full speed. Probably the most valuable player I can get my hands on."

That will definitely make me wanna stall for the whole first half on you. That way, with all the players you get sent off, you'll have nobody left to field in the second half! :-)

This fouling to stop stalls works against newbs, but not against good players. They'll just be glad everytime you make a foul! ;-p

MORE FOULS!!!! ;)
Everyone knows that turn16 fouls are a MUST... it's the perfect round-up to any game.
So get in the fight, Troels! ;)

Thats an easy one Rijs:

One of two options:

1. You foul too little (thats why fouls and cas are at -1)

2. You play Paulhicks too often (or one of his protégé's)

:D

hm, I think it's hard to make assumptions based on such a small number of games....

1. your amount of completetions differs roughly by 24 from your opponent... the amount of interceptions is bothersome but also not too huge to make assumptions. Id recommend not to pass anymore over opponents heads! Also yes, passing less is a good idea..

2. with roughly one foul per game you are under average. Simply compare it to other coaches stats... as you can see the fouls you recieve are about doubled, indicating your opponent fouls you once per half, while you foul them once per game.
Your opponents foul exactly the amount per game, it's reasonable to do so, it's a false assumption to think you can improve by blindly fouling more.

3. In roughly 42 games you have about 300 blocks less then your opponent with a average blocking rate of 36.6, wich is pretty low compared by average standarts.

ok, next aspect, the races:

From of the games you have playerd, 14 have been with pro elves, 12 have been with skaven, 8 with necros and 5 with norse.

elves and skaven are both good running teams, with elfs being the only team that can use passing strategies successfully. In that light it is fine you pass a little more.

Elves and Skaven both stand out for having a strong offence but being weak at defense. It's no surprise that you dislike stalling.

"But from now on I will foul you on any turn you have the ball and don't move towards my endzone at full speed "
That sentence is however utter crap. It has already been mentioned that you won't be able to stop your opponent from winning by fouling.
To think you can make your opponent trick into running as fast as he can into your half, is as unlikley as that he wil just pass the ball to you.
You want to make your opponent conceed, fine go ahead. But don't expect it to work very often.
Elves are very expensive. You can't afford to change them off in fouling battles.
Skaven are cheap and have low armor. A dp skaven lino exchange can be a benefitial approach. You will however need many players to execute fouling strategies.
Necro Zombies are ok for exchanges too
Norse are great blockers and can foul of course too.

Necro and Norse rely on stalling to win. But every race will occasionally do that.

It's pretty obvious that your biggest disadvantage in this game is your incapability to handle stalling.
