I just realized today, that this is the amount of matches Hope[R] played. (I just wanted to see how many until the magic 100 comes up, good thing i checked :))
So a short look back seems in order.
I decided early on, that I wanted to try a different approach to playing Slann and focus on having the maximum amount of Blitzers instead of the usual catcher-based builds.
The basic idea was that the team would be more versatile and less prone to losses, while not losing on speed. Early on i also had 2 +ag blitzers to rely on, which made sticking with my decision easier. Sadly +ag did not seem to be a luck-inducing stat increase for the team, with the exception of Zack. The fact that he is still a member of the team may be attributed to the general rate of attrition, though.
Speaking of which, team development was more of a
roller coaster ride than for any of my teams so far. 55 past players doesn't seem much compared to skaven but - possibly due to the fact that so many of them are expensive blitzers and even the linos can not really be considered cheap - money always was an issue for the team. Only very few matches were played with more than 11 players, i'm not quite sure if i ever managed to surpass 12 players.
On the other hand, journeymen were a frequent factor in the team's games, maximum was 7 journeymen at one point - i wonder if that is some kind of record. Luckily a halfling coach took the opportunity to
challenge them for a match then.
All in all it's been a sometimes fun, but all in all very unusual ride with the frogs. More so as I'm not known to be slow with retiring teams and i've been close a few times. Having players like
Eddy on board pretty much prevented that so far - however long it may yet last :).
Ok, that's enoough rambling for now. We're looking for a nice
Slann team as our opponent for the centenary match, anyone interested?
