Thoughts on preparing for a major
So, my very first blog.

I've been on the site for a very long time but have never been very involved in the forum and community bit of it. I have simply put been content in playing a lot of bloodbowl against all sorts of coaches and teams. Anyhow it's Major team again and that's easily one of the best things to do on fumbbl. Get a team in shape, apply to a qualifier, study the opposition, decide on what stars to hire, play the do or die games that may or may not lead you to the coveted place among the final 16.

This time around it's the GLT. I'll most likely be playing my humans and I am a little bit concerned with a couple of things. First of I havent been playing enough to keep on top of my game lately so I've had a couple of embarassing moments in my last few games, and second the team itself is so devoid of talent that I doubt even my usuall luck can get me very far with them.

Since I dont have very much time left to prepare both the team and myself I decided to play it a little risky and put them through the grinder this weekend. Putting them on the gamefinder and accepting the first offer I get until they are either dead or in shape. This should guarantee that I get my fill of difficult games to improve my game, and should also apply a certain form of darwinism to the team development. At the very least I'll avoid that greasy feeling of being picky the last days before the big tournaments. And hopefully I'll get some good games in. Maybe I should limit myself to not playing the same race more than once or twice in a row or I'll probably end up playing orcs all weekend long. But, to bring this to an end. If you notice my Rising Sun Rumblers on the gamefinder durign the weekend. Challenge them and be another stepping stone on their path to glory!

I'm in about the same boat, trying to get my orcs in shape. I'd like to accept just about any offer, but I'm getting a little more cautious about accepting even TS matches when I'm giving up 2-3 handicaps. All that gold in the war chest sure bloats you.

Maybe we'll run into each other. (Bring lots of gold and a bloated TR)

"trying to get my orcs in shape." sorry, I can't help but smile, when you're replying to someone who is talking about sending humans to a major.

Heh, I know what you mean, but humans are going to be like the dyslexic kid in the special olympics. They're going to get to beat up on the really flawed teams when there's really not all that much wrong with them.
