Did I get stiffed?
How do you handle something like this? Well, I'll give you a little background first.

Over in the Academy channel it was suggested that maybe I should take up orcs as a race. Given that my attempts with Skaven, Norse, and Woodelves weren't going so well... I took up the challenge.

I have loved it ever since. I have only played 3(4) games with them, but I am in love with the playstyle. My record is 2-0-1, which is a way better start than any of my other teams.

So... GO ME!

And now onto the stiffing.

I was playing a match against a player, who shall remain nameless, and with only 3 turns to go with the game tied up 1-1 they disconnect. They then message me through the website asking me to reconnect to another game. So I do, not thinking anything of it.

Note that at this point in the game... I have a full Orc Roster and he is down to 5 Skaven. Two are SI'd, and one is Dead, the other three merely knocked out. My Blitzer is exactly 6 squares from a TD, and all of his men are adequately covered with TZ's. On the game I had 11 earned SP with an almost guaranteed 3 more from the last TD.

Now.. back to the stiffing.

I reconnect to the game and resume about halfway through turn 6... I finish out my turn, hit CTRL+ENTER, and await my opponent.

One of his guys flips over automatically, and then nothing... Timer expires, and nothing. 'Extra' fifteen minutes expires, and nothing. Multiple PM's inquiring about my opponents state of being/health.

Then after 30 minutes... the game disconnects and I am sitting staring at a 'Waiting for Server' line in my Client.

Did I get stiffed?

Edit: After having spoken with the person involved in the match, it appears as though it was ISP problems and they are willing to resume our match when possible.

I would like to thank Lei for providing me with the proper tools to resolve this issue. It was a learning experience.

Well, you should look into the disconnection rules and if he does not respond, you should involve BiggieB as the head of academy. This is definitely not appropriate behaviour unless he really had connection problems, which might be the case.

Maybe, did you get a stiffy? It might very well be the case then..

Thanks. I hope that it was just connection problems.

Well if it wasn't your normal run of the mill disconnection issue then it's even lamer in academy that any other division i think.
Here's hoping the opponent had not access problems and it will be resolved amicably without the need for admin.

When you feel comfortable enough, move on to R, L or B - easier to find games and less problems like the one you described ;-)
(it's still happening to me in all divisions, probably 1 in 50 games)
