Hello everyone,
I know I'm not usually the one speaking to the press, especially not before big events like the Greater Dragon Grapple but our sponsors, let's say, convince me to give it a go, worried about viewings I suppose, since the start of this season is slow. I'll talk a little bit about the teams and then the Rampage's current form, and then we'll have a few questions if I feel like it, yes, I might even take a question from you in the back, even though you work for the Bilbali Deportivo.
First of all I want to say that the team, and myself, are very excited to have been invited to this prestigious tournament, great opportunity, amazing opponents, a rare occasion to showcase the talents of Ind right in the middle of the Empire. We are happy to have the chance to play against new teams but also to face all our old friends. We will certainly be seeing a lot of known faces, and I’m sure they’ll be happy to see us too, I’ll make sure to especially send a copy of your articles to Don Enrique and the council of the Lords of Nippon, I know they’re always happy to play us. Of all the teams we’ve faced before, the only one we haven’t managed to win against are the Dragon Hawks, and we’d be happy to avoid them I would say, too much of a surprise, especially since they’ve added new guys to their teams. I know I joked about Don Enrique but he’s been doing an excellent job with the Noblemen and they are looking good indeed, and they’re my favorite for the title. But everyone will be expecting them and that’s never a comfortable position. I would say I’d like to avoid them too, but it’ll be complicated if we want to get results in this division. We are certainly not in a position to win the title, but it’d be great to finish in the first half of the standings. The Kicking Mules are sure to show themselves in a good light, their speed is going to be a great asset here, I’m not going to be happy playing them if it comes to it, even though we won before, it was a lucky strike for sure. The Djinn are not in a great shape right now but they’ve been doing great recently, the team has really found its rhythm and I’m not eager to be on their way when they do find back their full roster. And anyway, that bloody Bin Zayed could play alone and still win half the games anyway! Same goes for the Warriors. They’ve been doing amazingly well since the team got decimated, repeatedly, and it is near impossible to predict anything for them, or against them, wins, loses, anything goes, we have a record of doing well against them but I’m not eager to try our luck again, keep them away from us. The team from Grasparossa is a bit more of an unknown factor for us, we’ve never played against them, never even watched one of their game. They’re from Tilea too I’m told, and already have a star player, Spilamberto, I’m not too keen on discovering how good they are against us, I’d rather watch their games in the stand. That leaves us with the Stone Prince’s Men the only team we are sure to play against, in the opening round. I’ve been studying them, I still have a few questions regarding the legality and the impact for the beauty of the game to allow Brawlers and Rogues to play, I’ve been talking with the officials of the CIBBL about it, hopefully something will come out of it and we won’t have to play them. If it comes to it, we will, and I don’t want to say too much about my plans then.
Our team is not looking too bad these days, we’re back to an almost full roster and that hasn’t happened in months. Unfortunately, Chhatrapati Shivaji is still unavailable, we’re hoping he’ll be back for the next game. During the break we worked a lot on impact with Raja Raja and Ghaggar-Hakra, so I’m hoping they’ll be able to break a bit more bones than before. Finally Chola has been mentoring Lakshmi, so hopefully she’ll be finally able to bring to the team what we know she can bring. I’ll take a few questions now, shoot away
Was it a surprise you were invited to the Greater Grapple even though you lost the division title for the first time this winter?
Well, it sure was a surprise, but a very welcome surprise. We didn’t win the division title because the Snakemen had an amazing season and the title was well deserved. Let me tell you one thing, the guys will sure be willing to show everyone that they deserve to be here, and that we fully belong in that tournament.
You didn’t say anything about Vima. Some commentators have been noting that he has been less impactful in recent tournaments, is that something you’ve addressed with him, and how does that impact the team?
As you all know, Vima is a key player in our team, he’s been responsible for almost half of all our tactical fouls, stop laughing in the back, and I’m sure he’s going to be doing a lot more for the team this season. Now that we have a bench back, he’ll be able to do a lot more, and he’s been working with Kamal, Shank and the new guys Kailash and Bansi, show them the ropes, have the threat coming from many directions.
Do you think the team has a Chola-dependency? She’s the only player who’s played all the games, most completions, most touchdowns, passing, rushing, what would you do without her?
Chola is a great asset, I’m not going to deny it, but everyone on the team is, to some extent. Take last season, when the Kalites weren’t doing too great scoring, the Tigers took over and managed to get us some touchdowns. And Amu and Vima, all the guys, they’re doing their parts. We’re not going to protect her in any special way, plus, she can take care of herself just fine.
Some say the team hasn’t been the same since the death of Vasishtiputra Pulumavi, what do you respond to that?
chocking on his coffee: what did I say before we started? What did I say? Who’s this guy? No questions about Vasishtiputra. You don’t get to talk about him. No one gets to talk about him. Done, I’m done, it’s over guys, don’t you tell me what to do, this is unbelievable, where do they find those guys?
