Day 2
WOah, that was a gory match, two horrible injuries. One for me one for him. Really good game though, felt tightly contested throughout, with a couple of good bits of play by me in amongst the mainly horrible play ;) haha

So playing versus Orcs, he has 4 BoB, 4 Blitzer, a Thrower a Goblin and I think one line. Interesting, not seen gobbos very much.

He elects to receive, My kick goes pretty long and I end up surfing a BoB and getting runners through the line. He does make it into a cage, but all my blitzers mark the corners, then runner blitzes the gobbo aside on back corner and carrier's marked. But, he calmly blocks his way clear, and advances slightly. This pattern continues and I engineer several 1d blocks on the carrier but nothing really comes of it. One of his BoB smashes the hip of a blitzer marking him :( and eventually turn 8 he's smashed his way through, not any great number of casualties but, just inexorably got there :/

My offence goes decently, I screen up and pick up the ball, then engineer another BoB surf and this time it's -st! Yikes! So now he has the statline of a dwarf blocker but none of the skill, ouch. Crowd obviously very angry. But apparently they like me as they gently welcome my blitzer who gets revenge surfed next turn. Then I spot a gap as the pressure mounts, hand off to the runner, who darts through a 2+ dodge, blitzes (and injures!) the gobbo in his way and sprints clear. Nothing else of note happens I score next turn under pressure all over the field.

Back to my defence and again it's the same story. I manage to engineer multiple 1d blocks on the carrier, but can't conclusively knock it loose with a couple of skull/both down results for good measure. He eventually walks it over no problem.

I'm not sure. I'm wondering if I'm being too aggressive. I gave away 3x as many blocks in marking up players to make the hits and generally got nothing to show for it. I'm conscious that I might be falling into the trap of playing into the bash players hands, but I kinda feel you gotta go for 1d hits on the carrier no? I mean, I only have to get it clear once ;) Not sure, I will research it a bit more.

Anyway, let none of that take away from the fact that it was really fun and once again my opponent was super friendly. THat's 2 out of 2 so far who have been generally lovely :) A good sign. And I think I played better this game, and got a skill-up on my runner who now has block and is now a faux blitzer! With a bit less armour but quicker hands (thanks to bbtactics for that build idea)

Roll on game 3!

Hey!

These match reports are really good. Thank you for sharing.

Did you know you can write a match report linked to your actual match? Click on the green circle with a D in it. This will bring up information for the match played (It even has dice stats!)

Then at the bottom there is a link for you to add a match report. This also means that you opponent can add one too. :)

Hope that helps to make more out of the site for you.

Ah found it, that is awesome!

2 stories in those statistics - 5 failed 1ds - I'm assuming a fail is only a turnover result? That would be some of the hits just doing nothing or turning over

But also, my opponent smashed me in 2d blocks which are by far the most reliable thing.

Can't feel too bad about that I reckon.

When looking at your team roster, click on 'show matches' above then all the matches you've played with that team get displayed at the bottom of the page. Their is a green circle next to each. Enjoy.

PS these really are great, cheers!

Never 1D block unless you have too and then at the end of the turn, and never ever GFI .....

These are great to read, keep them up! Reviewing your matches is a good process to get into the habit of doing. Check out this link: https://fumbbl.com/p/notes?op=view&id=2260 especially the stuff towards the middle: The TAOUCH! of BB and 7 tips for BB competence are quite good :)
