Several matches after becoming the
best Pogoer alive,
Stick Steve from
Catch the Grenade for me finally entered the Blood Bowl Olympus. Missing only one final touchdown to becoming a Legend, Nuffle refused him that honor for several matches, even forced him to pause a game after a (one-sided) violent clash with the
Angry Newscasters.
The pressure was high in the all decisive match against
Dr. Steins Creatures. The trolls were pumped up, the chainsaw oiled, the bombs polished. Only Mr. Lollipop, the lovable and cheerful Fanatic, was missing. CTGFM won the coin toss and decided to receive, and the first turn already saw some brilliant goblin action. Mirvy, too excited to properly toss the bomb, missed his throw, and while he managed to knock out a zombie, he also caused a turnover. Expecting imminent death, he was immediately targeted by Xerxes, the fierce wight known for his mighty blows. Xerxes was obviously affected by the general tension. Disappointed by not knocking over Mirvy, he chose to stretch his luck and try a second blow - just to get punched in his undead face by Mirvy and fall over. Next thing he saw were 30" of rotating steel, smashing his collar bone, and it was only his regenerative skills that stood between him and premature retirement.
These first two turns were the epitome of the whole match. The Goblins played themselves into a rage, allowing the Necromantic no rest and frantically celebrating every time Steve scored. When the game was over and the dust had settled, Stick Steve had added another three touch downs to his list and was officially announced Legend.
Steve is truly living the dream of every stunty weakling out there, demonstrating over and over again that all you need to succeed in this sport is luck and a trustworthy broom stick. What is next? When asked by the inrushing Gobbovision reporter, Steve stoically replied: "Becoming the best Goblin team member alive - and completing a pass".
