Reflections on half a debut season...
I signed up for FUMBBL in 2010, didn't play a single game and promptly forgot about it.

Fast forward to the current COVID-19 cluster-(erm)-"flock" and suddenly it's the place to be. Swept up in the wave, I signed up to the Scottish National FUMBBL league with some trepidation and the expectation of being thoroughly underwhelmed. Luckily it was simple enough to create a team and the Gallus Cowboys were born.

I've been around the BB scene for a few years now and have seen the occasional screenshot of the FUMBBL client so I kinda knew what to expect, but it still took some getting used to. My first game was a mess of misclicks, failed dice rolls and some outrageous Elven-style BS. From Orcs. So not the best start. Luckily it was against an opponent who I've regularly faced off against across the tabletop, so at least I enjoyed the banter.

Since then I've ridden a seesaw of emotions: I've gone from hating the game to loving it again - and then back again... occasionally in the same match; I've had a dicing and dished (at least one) out; I've had a couple of games where my players were almost unrecognisable one half to the next; and I've lost to Halflings...

I have a record of 4/2/3 after 9 games - which I think is probably fair...

So it's definitely a different way to play the beautiful game and one which will certainly take some getting used to - but I'm willing to give it a go.

Welcome to FUMBBL.
Consider staying here also after the recent crisis, you'll get used to the client rather quick and it's always nice to find a quick gaem :-)

Hmmm... OK so rereading this it seems overly negative - which was not my intention.

I'm actually enjoying BB on FUMBBL (certainly a lot better than no BB) and I think it helps a lot that I'm just about there with figuring out the client.

I hope that in a week or two when I've got everything sorted and maybe got a few blackbox games under my belt then my next blog post will be a lot more positive. :)

5.9/6 rating is really well rated. I don't think its negative. Have fun, see you on the pitch!

We should all lose to halflings at somepoint. Keeps us humble.

Sorry also - to clarify: I didn't mean the rating of 5.9/6 or responses were negative. (I was happy even when I thought it was out of 10)
I just reread what I wrote above and actually meant to be more positive about the whole FUMBBL experience. :)
And yes, my vs 'fling record to date is abysmal. I keep telling myself I'm fine with that... :/

Welcome to Fumbbl. It's definately the fastest way to play the most games so it can be like a rollercoaster with variance. Especially when the RNG is playing up.
