Meh, I'm one of those who finds CR the last thing to look at when searching for a game, I've played CR 130 guys (like myself) who turned out better than a CR 170 who seems to turn green at the prospect of an even match-up.
And there's nothing wrong with accepting a match someone else offered, as you pointed out, Flings need inducements to work, so there was nothing odd about the match request.

Well, it wasn't exactly a new coach... he knew what he was getting himself in to...

How can you even pick in beta? Doesn't the act require some lasting effect in the first palce?

Get over it, it's only halfings. Halflings die. That's what they do :D

If I'd be looking for the CR in FFB these days, I'd never find a game. It's populated with new coaches and I found enough of them to be very capable without having ever been in Ranked. If he wants it, the game gotta be fine. Flings certainly profit from a high difference, so I wouldn't worry.

still doesn't change the fact that it's cherrypicking...

thanks much for the comments guys...certainly won't worry about it anymore for the beta stuff. And in the future if the offer comes from a noob coach I'll just ask if he's sure first after that all bets are off.

Honestly, if the man wants a match, give it to him. Flings were made for one thing only, dying.
Life cycle is thusly:
1) Fling is born
2) Fling is thrown by animated tree
3) Fling dies
THE END
