New team.
So, when the newly formed Market Deeping Blood Legion approached me asking (after some torture) to be their manager, what could I say? So a few days later once I'd stopped shaking uncontrollably and could move my arms and legs without to much pain, I proceeded to the grounds to inspect my new team. I was very happy with the team, a nice even mix of blitzers, runners and witch elves and four linesmen to back them up. The cherry on the cake was a juicy assassin - I was looking forward to seeing him in action!

It would be advisable that the team train harder (buy some re-rolls) to gain much success on the field.

I'd even go so far as ditch the assassin. I see an assassin, he's my first target, especially if he has Multiple Block. Drop the 'sin, get some rerolls. Agi 4 isn't foolproof and Nuffle can get... cranky.

I'm afraid you have made just about every classic mistake in team creation by new players.

Team Rerolls, costs half the price at team creation and is possibly the single biggest game winning factor.

Fan Factor is near meaningless in the current ruleset. Maybe start with 1, or possibly 2, if you have the cash left over. But most people start with 0.

Cheerleaders and Assistant coaches, are probably not worth the cash.

Too many toys, 2 witches and 2 runner sis a lot of av7, easy to hit and hard to keep safe. 1 of each is a LOT, 1 of the 4 would be sensible, many DE teams start with none.

Not taking all the blitzers, contrary to the above advice i know. but the DE blitzer is one of THE best pieces in blood bowl. start with 3 if you have a VERY good reason. Else start with 4.

using assasins. You really have to know how to get the best out of an assasin, for most people the best is not to hire him, he's expensive and often of little use. Also another easy target.

Sp, good luck with them. Me? I'd bin them and read the help section on DE roster creation tips.

Coach. If I was you I'd slip quietly out of town as soon as it gets dark.

Seriously. You'd be better off coaching in Oakland.

This team has too many over paid prima donnas, no re-rolls and no money to buy any.
You can get RRs half price when a new team starts. That is a good time to get a couple.

A team needs a solid backbone of good, honest players. Blitzers & linos. Two witches, runners and an assassin are luxuries you cannot afford right now.

Same with the assistant. You ain't in the big league yet. You're gonna have to do stuff yourself. You can't buy real fans. They'll come along soon enough.
And cheerleaders? This ain't Dallas.

An apoth will come in handy if only to get badly hurt players back on the field.

Some coaches would go for this kind of thing:

But you know how it is. Opinions are like arseholes. ;)

Cheers guys though I'm gonna limp on a few matches longer with these guys. At least while I relearn the game and if I don't manage to pull them out of the great big hole they are in, I'll retire them.

Has anybody told you rerolls are half price on team start up, yet?
Posted by Wizfall on 2014-12-09 20:51:11
Be careful against who you play, try to avoid unfair match-up (against too good coaches/too big TV difference/too good races or teams).
Be ready to endure...and curse Nuffle a lot ;)
