CIBBL - Who's Inside the Outcasts?
After the success (of the programme, not the Outcasts) of CIBBL's "All or Nothing: Waystone Outcasts" show that followed the Half-Elves disastrous tour of the Haunted Hills in Spring Year 7, those wacky CIBBL marketers have come up with something new for the viewing public.
The new show "Who's Inside the Outcasts?" will follow an individual player through a game, displaying their highs and lows, and giving some insight into the players beneath the beautiful hairdo's.
This first installment features Outcasts captain,
Jérôme Jenfyre.
The hardest hitting member of the team, he has continued playing longer than many expected, especially after the brutal murder of his brother Aurélien in the Outcasts
11th ever game.
At this point in time Jérôme is a Star Player and holder of a CIBBL Triple X award.
Let's go pitchside with CIBBL analyst Calamity Codswallop!
Today's
game could be a close one as the Outcasts face the battered and bruised
Matron's of Malice. Despite losing their last three games the Matrons still present a dangerous foe with their strength advantage, and their ranks bolstered by not one but two CIBBL Star Players!
Consecrator Clarissa, the slow but deadly spinning zealot.
Bertha Bigfist, the fast and mobile Ogress.
Let's get straight to the action as the kickoff has just happened.
We see the Matrons come out strong, knocking out two Outcasts line-elfs immediately. As the Outcasts swing into action we see that Jenfyre's keen eyes have spotted an opportunity immediately.
From the backline Jenfyre slips past Sister Abigail, and closes in on Matrons ball carrier Attendant Priscilla. Oh, she narrowly escapes! but Jenfyre is still close by.
The Matrons swing south to put some distance between the Outcasts blitzer, and Puritor Faith attempts to slip a blade through Jenfyre's armour.
Like lightning he twists away and plunges an arm spike into the Puritor's face! She goes down screaming, and that looks like a nasty injury that could take some time to heal. Jenfyre continues on and gets in contact with the ball carrier again.
Attendant Priscilla herself knocks the approaching Jenfyre to the ground, and he looks stunned!
The Matrons take this opportunity to try and move forward, but Consecrator Clarissa slips and entangles herself nastily in her own chains. As she limps off to the bench, the Outcasts try to form a thin screen in front of the Sisters.
The Matrons see an opportunity as Puritor Annibelle stabs Outcasts other star blitzer Ariel Anstar out of the game! Jenfyre despite being on the ground still manages to keep the other team busy as it takes four of them to keep him stunned. But the ref thinks there has been foul play! The Matrons coach rushes out to protest, and yes it seems like nothing untoward took place, but is that a coin or two falling out of the ref's pocket!?
The Outcasts scramble backwards as the Matrons make ground towards the endzone.
The action continues with the depleted Outcasts team trying to impede forward progress, giving Jenfyre time to recover and get in position to make a play.
Puritor Annibelle tries to make it two successful stabs, but again Jenfyre avoids a blade. The Matrons shove Outcasts line-elves clear of the ball but don't make much progress.
Now Jenfyre springs into action, dodging free of Annibelle he plows into the Matrons formation and sends Attendant Priscilla toppling to the ground! The ball pops loose and lands in the scrum, and with all attention on the ball the officials miss Outcasts catcher Rylee Mareena stamping on Priscilla's head and knocking her out.
The Matrons are swarming around Jenfyre and the ball...
...but he spins and jukes and twists and turns, avoiding blows and shepherding the ball back towards the Outcasts defensive line. Finally Sister Jacqueline brings him down, but as he falls he knocks the ball out of the scrum and into open field.
Outcasts Super Star thrower Sarrion Gilqirelle doesn't waste any time...
...darting in, scooping up the ball and sending a beautiful spiral pass into the waiting arms of Aiden Destin, who sprints off downfield, out of reach of the heavily armoured sisters.
Stunned, but with the righteous indignation of Sigamr, the Matrons look to dish out some damage.
Six of them surround the prone Jenfyre and let him have it with boots and fists. The ref wades in to stop it, sending off Novice Temperance, and then calling out the stretcher for the hurt Jenfyre.
As he is carried off the pitch a smile spreads across his face despite the pain, as he sees Destin waltz into the endzone to put the Outcasts up 1-0.
From there the Outcasts manage a comfortable second score midway through the second half, and do just enough to stop the Matrons late desperation play for a score of their own. A 2-0 win for the Outcasts.
Jérôme Jenfyre's game stats: 7 turns played, 3 blocks, 1 CAS, 1 opponent ejected, 1 turnover caused.
