For me team Management and minimaxing are 2 very different things. Minmaxing is the exploitation of the best 2 combos of the game at low TV (clawpomb and blodge). These are teams that want to kill without being killed or teams that want to knock their opponents without being knocked. This normally leads to unfair games (unless Nuffle has something to say…).

Team management is totally different because it is independent of ur TV. Team management means that you try to have the best distribution of skills at any TV level. While there aren’t minmaxed teams at high TV, there are teams with a good team management at high TV. In fact, normally teams that reach a high TV are teams that have been appropriately managed. In blood bowl there are 2 kinds of teams in terms of team management: teams that perform better when few players have the skills (skavens, norse) and teams that perform better when the skills are spread around the players (dwarfs, chaos). Team management is simply to distribute the skills in the best way according to your race and ur strategy. Sometimes team management implies that u have to fire healthy skilled players, especially when the best distribution of skills according to ur race and ur startegy changes due to injuries (you can do this if u have the money to do it). In my opinion team management should not be criticized. In fact, every coach should start to care about team management, because it is another part of the game. Building teams in the best way that you can play with them is something that every coach should try to do.

Ranked Vs Box

There is team management both in ranked and black box. The point is that in the box u are forced to use team management since your rivals will do it too. In ranked it is not necessary because if you have a team with bad team management (let’s say a lizzard team with skilled skinks and rookie saurus) you still can get a fair game against another team with bad management. If u don’t play the box because u don’t like team management , you simply do not like one aspect of the game, that in my opinion makes it better and also helps you with the understanding of the game.

Minimaxing is only possible in the box. However, I must say that there are very few minmaxed teams in the box.
