What you see...
Ok, I admit it. I don't actually believe that people are lucky or unlucky. Not even me... regardless of my whining. And I even know that human nature dictates that we remember our bad luck more than our good luck... and I know that slann and underworld and ogre and all the fun teams are actually weak rosters... but seriously and honestly... I sure do seem to roll a whole lot of 1,1s/skull,skulls, etc.

but let's just presume that i'm terrible, and that the type of people who read random blogs are also the type of people to give play advice to strangers. Any tips?

Also: not really looking for "general tips", I'm actually asking you to watch a replay and tell me why I suck. Cuz I'm probably more biased than you. and all (most of what) I see is 1s.

It might help if you provide specific replays you'd like us to watch

I have been watching your last two slann games. First I noticed that your team doesn't have any real threats like a strip baller. I think you're overdoing it with running several rookie blitzers at once but ok, many people like that. Overall it doesn't come down to one thing you're doing wrong, there are just a lot of things you could do better. And frankly it should be obvious to you if you think about it.

Ok I'm going chronological here and start with the undead game:
You start kicking. There are some good openings. You play conservativly. The opponent slowly approaches into your half. But he doesn't cage, there is plenty of room for a 2d. Then he does consequitve turns where you do nothing. I have to recheck what happend: You got timed out without doing a single thing. Mate, of course you gonna lose over stuff like this.
Second half you are stuck 3+ 2+ away from scoring. You choose a 8/9, 2+, 3+, 2+, 2+ variant instead and fail on the 3+. I know your thinking is probably: Aw man, I'd have failed that 3+ in any case. But nevermind the actual rolls. Think more like this: If it isn't the actual 3+ roll thats gonna fail, it's one of those nonsensical rolls you make. Improving probability is a real thing.

Second game against chaos. Lots of unneccessary risk taking. Now very agressive play against a cage. You start your turns in brawls, dodge out of them and still end up in other brawls. In the bashing game thats like setting yourself up to be torn apart because: Either you get trashed by the players you are next to in the beginning, you die on a failed leap or you get trashed by the players you stand next to in the end. Pretty much fitting my expectations your team is heavily outnumberd at the end of the first half. My advice: Wait for a better opening or take the risks later in the half. Focus on knocking your opponent down, right where you stand or at least dodge on distance for reformation. Don't take the maximum risk just for a lousy 1d shot on the carrier if you can't secure the ball and the half is young.

But the probably best advice I can give you is: Watch your own replays, take your probability management seriously and don't sanctify your plays. We all do plenty of things wrong all the time. You stop doing things wrong and your luck will improve. Thats a promise.

Your dudes murdered Robert Frost (http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=player&op=view&player_id=9061640) - I can't feel any sympathy for those Slann! They're cold-hearted, man.
