After a nice long argument on #fumbbl, I felt it might be useful to write down some pointers about arguments with me, just in case someone happened to find himself in the same situation with me.
Please note that these are not aimed towards FatherShadow or anyone else in particular, I'm just writing these down as they come to my mind.
- I love a good debate, so if I have a strong opinion on something, don't expect me to drop the subject until it's been concluded.
- I am capable of altering my views if I'm proved to be wrong. This is best accomplished by good, logical arguments rather than personal insults or "funny" remarks.
- Please don't take me personally. I never mean to insult anyone, and I almost definitely have nothing against you personally. I just love a good debate.
- Don't get personal, so I won't have to get personal either.
- Read my points through! I usually have a strong logic behind my arguments.
- If you notice I've obviously missed an important point you've been saying, do point it out to me.
- At times during a debate, you'll notice that we're not actually debating about the original subject anymore, the subject has completely changed and we're just arguing for the sake of arguing. If I notice this has happened, I might point it out - or just keep on arguing because I'm having such a good time.
- Remember, in the ultimate case, matters are best solved on the blood bowl pitch!
Cheers FatherShadow, I had a good time debating with you! Hope you didn't take any of it personally, I sure didn't.
