Kick him while he's down!
Fouling is a subject of some controversy in the world of BB...unless you use a goblin team. So for now, we shall ignore our funny green fellows and talk about the more conventional teams.

Fouling is allowed in BB. Its an accepted rule. Its in the rule books, and theres even a little button on Java BB that allows you to commit the act. However, actually doing it can spark many furious arguments, as players frantically type "WTF!!!" as you kick his prized thrower in the face.

It is generally concidered to be unsporting to foul. And sportsmanship is an important thing, unless you don't mind being called a douche by everyone. However, if its in the rules, and the button is there, surely Nuffle wants you to do it, right? There is as much risk that the person fouling will be removed from the game as the person being fouled (though the foulee may never recover). So in a game situation, where every player counts, is it worth taking the risk?

Aisha1, a good friend of mine on FUMBBL, once said that it is only logical to foul for a strategic reason. His example being, if your about to score, you don't want the opponent to stand up and blitz the ball carrier. So you foul him to keep him down, and thus, score with minimum trouble. I can definately see where he's coming from, but I'm still not sure about fouling.

Personally, i think the negatives outway the positives. I mean, you don't even get any SPPs for hurting them! Then again, BB would be more dull if fouling stopped altogether. I mean you'd expect it from a Chaos or Orc team, and goblins would lose all the fun things that make them awesome! Even halfings are advised in their strategy guide to kick anything that falls over!

So I say leave those who foul be! Its all part of the game. After all, you can't have Blood Bowl without blood.....lots of blood!

Fouling is also acceptable if you get fouled first then you unleash hell! Or if your playing halflings got to love those stunty stampers

Purplegoo: Stop equating being a 'fair' player to having anything to do with fouling. This isn't real life, it's not a sport you play, it's a board game which features six options that your player can choose from in a turn in order to forward your chances of winning. If you ignore one of those six, you're not being pure of heart, you're simply running the hundred meters with your shoelaces tied together.

I think your missing my point, and that could be with me not explaining myself well enough. I don't care if people foul in BB. It is an option, so why not do it! I was merely trying to state that there are those who do not agree with the concept and will kick up a fuss when they get fouled. To these people, I suggest maybe BB isn't the game for you. Sh*t happens, and players will get hurt and die. It's the nature of the game. The BB background is full of such incidents, and these backgrounds provide inspiration for our teams. Fouling is as important as any other rule in BB, and players should expect it to happen from time to time.
So apologies for not explaining myself well enough. I just wanted to explore points of view on the concept. Thanks for the comments :)

Fouling is "part of the game".

Fun is "part of the game".

Let "part of the game" = x

Fouling = x

Fun = x

Substitute for x.

Fouling = Fun

Hmm, seems that I have kicked up a fuss with this subject. I AM PRO FOULING! Just to make myself clear lol. I wrote the blog to explore the opions of other people briefly. Ive been playing the board game for years, and have met many opponents with different views. I am of the opinion that fouling is good, its a part of BB fibre. Without it, the game wouldn't be as fun!
But fouling is a choice. You don't have to if you don't want to. But why pass the opportunity? Get stuck in! Give them a kicking! Do unto others before they do unto you!!!
