This game was marked by Baby Gutsplitter living up to father's brutal charm. Both norse throwers suffered massive hits that sidelined them in the KO box for large portions of the game and 2 others were carried off after trying to take on the ogre.
The first half saw the norse kicking off, but blitzing across the LOS to put immediate pressure on the Corsairs. However, the blitz may have hurt more than it helped, as the forward pressure allowed on the second turn for Humans to complete a quick pass and Fang (catcher) took off downfield and could not be caught. The early score allowed a lot of time for the norse and the rest of the half was very interesting with back and forth play - a lot of double skulls used up both sides RRs by T4, so the crowd was on their feet tense about what was to happen. It was the ogre that blitzed the ball carrier and knocked it loose and then Fang picked it up and on T8 had a chance for a handoff to Hurin (thrower) and a long pass to a wide open blitzer for the TD, but the handoff was fumbled and the norse nearly took advantage, but the half ended 1-0 in favor of the humans.
After playing the later parts of the first half down a player, fortunates reversed and with injuries and both KOed players staying out...suddenly the norse were short handed..and with the Ogre and Ella (human linewomen got 2 CAS) smashing, the numbers favored the humans, and it was only a matter of time until the ball was wrenched free from the norse that never stopped fighting and a pass downfield found a breaking blitzer who scored on T15 to bring the final score to 2-0.
Thanks for the game, good sportsmanship by opponent!”
