“Much to our disappointment, it was perfect Blood Bowl weather today. But, we made the best of things.
The Lady Jayhawks received the ball to start the first half, and the Slugs settled back into a deep zone defense.
Our line held up well, and soon had strung out the Amazon's line forcing Manning to try a touch into the end zone without waiting for blockers. This was a mistake, as Ironaxe put on a burst of speed to mark her, and Anvilheart came up with the big tackle, only paces from the line. Hammerstroke scooped up the loose ball, waited for his blockers, and then tossed it downfield to Bighammer, who scored to close out the half.
The second half followed the pattern the Slugs have established all season, with three of the Amazons sent to the injured box on the very first crash of the lines. Gail Sayers did make a good move towards the ball, but was knocked down by a very crafty move by Chainshirt. She started to rise, biceps and things rippling and heaving, glistening in the sunlight, hair waving.... were was I? Oh yeah... She was about to get up, but Silveredge put a boot to her and she was carted off, seriously injured.
That seemed to demoralize the Lady Jayhawks, who spent the rest of the half getting out of harms way. Silveredge took a short pass from Bighammer, and walked in to put the game away at 2-0.
Thanks for the match, and we wish Kansas luck in the remainder of the season.”
