“I won my the kickoff for the first time in about 12 matches, and I had a feeling that I would end up paying some other way.
Despite a good start from the Cheerful Deads, that managed the old fake flank offensive and scored through the sneaky Smudge, things quickly went uphill for the Deads. Without their beloved pirate captain on the pitch they seemed much more fragile than normal and suffered a tremendous amount of KO's.
Constantly outnumbered the Deads had a very hard time defending and the necros could tie without much resistance at the end of the first half.
In the second half I suffered from awful KO rolls and had to make it without 2 ghouls and a wight. Things looked grim, but a heroic blitz by a zombie knocked the ball lose and for a while it looked like the Deads had the victory. Rodney Ratbreath scooped up the ball and ran down the left flank.
Through many GFI's the opponent managed to catch him though, but they did not come close enough to blitz. But as usual the old bastard Nuffle decided to prevent a victory for me. First a double failed 3+ dodge to prevent a TD and then in the other turn when I managed to get free and move the blocking ghoul through a blitz I failed the pickup despite having sure hands on my ghoul.
Awful luck, but hey, I'm used to that by now.
Thanks for the match, Alexis! You were right about the second half. I didn't see it as exciting when I was down to 5 men left on the pitch, but I nearly ended up winning, hehe. See you around.”
