“Coach Chainsaw was somewhat surprised when challenged by Coach Bera and his norsemen L'Armata Brancaleone. Obviously Bera had seen the rag tag bunch of orcs who look like a total mess and thought his team would have a straightforward day ahead of them on the blood bowl pitch. Looks can be deceiving - whilst these orcs may look like rotten misfits, they pack an almighty punch.
Still, the ogre Groppone looked really up for the game, chomping on something and looking frighteningly wired. A gleeful crowd looked onward optimistically waiting for his first victim. Unusually, the orcs reacted, mobbing the ogre en masse and gang fouling him. The crowd were stunned into silence as the big ogre fell, but roared its approval when as lineman Fumblebuck ripped out its vocal chords. Coach Bera flung the apothecary on who managed to pick up the pieces of Groppone's throat and use some white powder to stick it back together.
The ogre jumped up as life returned to its body. He smashed into a blitzer in an effort to make his way back on the defensive side of the line, but the blitzer - with a bit of help from his abundant teamates - stood firm. Again, the orcs hauled down the ogre, and again Fumblebuck jumped in illegally. The ref spotted the foul and ordered the orc off, but changed his mind as the ogre got dragged off by Coach Bera's medical staff to sit out the rest of the game. Perhaps it was the comparative difference in the sides without the ogre that did it.
All of a sudden, with L'Armata Brancaleone ogreless and the game barely begun, the complexion of the match had changed. The 'Saws quickly overran their norse opponents and started removing them from the pitch. With players usually prone or recovering, there was little Coach Bera could do as Team Chainsaw ran riot. Two desperate norsemen would dodge to their deaths, another would meet his end at the hand of a black orc, yet another would suffer permanent injury, and 2 more would walk off with lesser injuries. The crowd were ecstatic. Incidentally the 'Saws also scored 4 times, almost 5 but for a failed blitz right at the end of the game.
Happy fans went on the warpath after their norse counterparts. The initial reports are that the norse fans were much tougher than the team they support, and that any new Chainsaw fans will only make up for those lost in clashes against the upset L'Armata Brancaleone fans. Apparently it was quite brutal, Coach Bera should consider enlisting some of them as players in his now-short-on-numbers team!”
