After a few games against Unseemly Unseelie, evilhuman decided to rough up the old folks home. Those necros tore through the elves something awful. Only a truly crackheaded play managed to tie it up and a single roll would have won it for EH. It was mighty close and I just love trying to defend against a full team with a handful of elves. Rarely is it successful, but it can still be a whole lot of fun.

I started off receiving and went for the score in two. A blown dodge ended that strategy and a sent the ball bouncing through enemy territory. A dropped pass made for a tiny opening that I finally managed to convert on turn 8 of the first half... it was a whole half of trying to get through there. Nasty stuff.

On his turn 8, Evilhuman received and pushed poor old Limone into his MA 9 sprint Wolf to set up the 1 turn TD. Very nicely done. Anyone wondering how to do it should take a look at the replay, since he had it exactly right (except for giving the wolf the ball on the touchback! Why roll more than you have to?).

Second half the necros scored pretty easily again in 2-3. I received and tried a different strategy. I gave him one Dragon Warrior as a target and went for a 3 or 4 turn reverse. That didn't go so well, as poor Cognac can verify. That infernal wolf was everywhere and I eventually only managed to score by dodging into 2 TZs, away from those and off into the endzone to catch a run-handoff-run-pass play that covered 13 spaces on foot. It was quite silly.

Necros got the ball back with a turn or two left and I managed to put his wolf down stunned. His only potential receiver was a wight who was covered by Kahlua (Str 4 thrower) and with an AG 5 catcher in front of him for the hopeful pick-off. Me moved an assist in, blitzed free and made a lane for his AG 4 wight to throw the winning score, but the pass fell short. I had no one in position and thus ended the match.

Thanks again for another fun game, EH. Next time you can play against VNV and you'll have played all my favorite elf teams.

Post-Game Note: Got enough cash to buy Grappa Mk.IV which is good because he puts me back up to 10 players for the next match with Cognac out. Kahlua finally made Legend status. 63rd game for the Cordials since January 2003 and Kahlua has played in every single one of them. He finally picked up a niggler on aging so his streak may be coming to an end soon... but the skill roll was a +MA. Woot!”
