Our undead are up against Russo's vamps. They have 3 vampires and just 9 thralls to feed them, backed by 4 rerolls which could mean an OFAB fest. Here's hoping anyway! With piles of excess cash (180k in our first two games) we have hired the Count to give us the advantage.
And indeed right from the beginning he is key, blitzing vamps left and right, stopping them from scoring after we kick and clearing space around the ball so we can recover several times. Meanwhile they are burning up their rerolls at an alarming rate, using up all 4 in the first 4 turns... this could mean blood for the rest of the half! By turn 5 we have almost filled their KO box and badly hurt a vamp (regen), with the ball safely upfield in the hands of a ghoul. We KO the remaining two vamps to the relief of the remaining thralls, who decide to lie quietly on the pitch feigning death. Our team is somewhat confused and stand around idly til turn 8 before scoring.
All but 2 wake up from the KO box as we receive for the second half, collecting the ball with the Count. They are out to cause some damage as it doesn't look like they will be able to get at the ball: on their first turn their DP MNG's one of our ghouls, and on their 2nd turn they niggle our block-mummy, regen fail! We vow revenge and go for our first foul of the game KILLING one of their vampires! Our head coach casts raise the dead for the third time in a row and Pigstar shambles into our reserves box.
At this stage we have the ball by their end zone in the Count's hands and there's little they can do to affect the game, which ends pretty uneventfully on turn 8 with a ghoul touchdown.
Luckily our continued and lucrative contract with "Scrofgug's SuperRot" lets us replace the injured mummy right after the game (that's 270k winnings in 3 games.. + 3 free zombies. Egads).
