Match was made nigh-unwinnable when both my players with tackle were injured (regen failed) in the first turn of the game.
The ref quickly sent off both foulers. Outnumbered, desperate plays required dodging or 1d hits. Every dodge, eating up rerolls, failed on snakes and 1-2s. Except one which was a 6+ (although the follow up 4+ dodge hit a snake eyes). Every 1d hit felt like it was a skull.
The upside is that the match was over really quickly because only about 1/4 of the normal playing time was required for me due to dwindling player numbers and instant turnovers, and 1/2 of the normal playing time was required for Stonetroll, as he didn't have any particularly tough puzzles to solve.
Blodge+fend+guard is a great combination.
You could argue I was naive to expose my tacklers to hits in the first turn. In the end, I don't think it made any difference, because Nuffle was in a particularly spiteful mood, right until the end - the winnings roll of 1 meaning this match was played at a loss.”
