“This was an exciting match and a good performance got the Villains out of a rut. The killing power wasn't there but most of the players did their jobs and Draknil showed his talent. A recent culling of Dwarf guards certainly helped us.
At the start Draknil took the ball and went down the flank. The Dwarfs managed to cover well and it looked touch and go whether we would score. Switchblade and the Faceless Hunter both did their jobs in pushing away equally strong Dwarfs and Draknil dodged through the gap between runners and darted off to the endzone to score.
A drop from Snuggle Ready Kryten gave us hopes of stealing the ball but he recovered. Kneecapper Bones did get at him though and when a Trollslayer failed to bring him down then Kneecapper helped Draknil bring down the runner ball carrier. Another runner retrieved the ball but was left in no man's land and Faceless Hunter and zombie Krikov smashed him down. Draknil then took the ball to safety. Half time 1-0. Some of the zombies had been taken off the field but no big problems.
A Dwarf bomber took to the field and blasted a mummy over but the sun put him off risking many throws. Warface Kryten was twice hassled by Werdna who broke through the Dwarf line and he helped Draknil knock him down as the other Dwarfs got held at bay ahead in the centre and on a flank. The runner couldn't get the ball back and he was double teamed again as Draknil got the ball and escaped for the crucial 2nd td.
A riot followed and the Dwarfs attacked right at the pitch edge. The Mountain went for the carrier but a combination of a bold blitz, some frenzy and grab players led to him being barged off the field. But yet again Draknil was too good a sweeper for the carrier and he stopped another drive,and fortunately wasn't hurt in the revenge hit.
Fun game and the Villains made good of what chances they had at getting at ball carriers today.
