“First half against the Tetnus shots and a caught kick by their ghoul followed by a rash move by Necro Phil to face up to a Golem started things badly as a Wight smashed him into the ko box. With the frenzied Wolves, the fend linos and some Guard we were struggling in the positional game as they slowly went up one side. Kneecapper Bones did bring down the ball carrying Wolf near the end of the half but it was no problem for the Shots hairy "Princess" to recover the ball and score. A half in which we looked a bit lost. Draknil was chomping at the bit as he had been left on the bench.
An exceptional kick left the ball next to the midway line and on the opposite side to many of our players. Draknil took the ball though a hit fail from the Mountain left Knut exposed and he was blitzed into the crowd. Things were looking bad but with the Faceless Hunter's help Draknil could get past the Wolves chasing him and score.
With over a quarter of the game left and up to then in control the Shots looked confident of making the winner. But in moments Quickfingers, Switchblade and Necrophil had ko'd a Wight, Wolf and zombie and things were no longer sure. Switchblade even appeared to kill Ennui, a golem but the thing regenerated (regen was effective this match). Options were running out so Hubba Bubba went for a desperate long pass that was intercepted brilliantly by Switchblade. A likely defeat now seemed a very likely victory for the Villains. Switchblade got the ball to Draknil but as Draknil charged forward he stumbled and didn't go full speed. He could still foil the Princess's blitz at him but then as he rushed forward for more glory he inexplicably fell in the endzone! How can this great legend do this again? Not the first time Draknil has stumbled in the last stride and proof that no player is infallible. ”
