Fortunately, the team was in fine form, and the vampires attacked their own teammates as much as they went after us. We were able to outmuscle the pasty minions of the vampire team, and eventually used the numbers advantage to score easily in the first half. The mighty Griff Goaterwald took the ball and ran with it, showing off en route to the end zone by leaping into the air to the delight of the fans. A dubiously late whistle for the end of the first half didn't help the vamps score, so we moved on to the second half with the lead.
We didn't hold that lead for long, unfortunately. We defended the end zone well, but the lead vampire brushed us aside and ran into the end zone. That's when Longhorn Sue went berserk. The mighty cow saved the draw in our first game... this time, she might have cost us the win, but in bloody and entertaining fashion. She completely disemboweled one of the smaller minions, but knocked herself down trying to get the corpse off her left horn. Her right horn would claim a second fatality later in the drive, but our offense never really recovered from the slip. Fortunately, the duo (trio?) of Cap'n Billy and Two Goats in a Coat tracked down a vamp who was breaking with the ball late in the game. In the closing seconds, the two little goats had a chance to pass the ball for the win... Veronica snagged it off the ground and tossed it up to Meadow, who failed to secure it in her teeth or her basket, relegating us to a draw.
Despite the failure to win, we think we played well... certainly better than our first game, and the thousands of fans in attendance roared their approval too. Yet again, they named a fan favorite MVP over one of the best players... Sue killed two thralls, Griff scored the team's only touchdown, but the award goes to Crazy Henrik, who also scored a casualty but had little effect on the game other than that. You know, people really overestimate that crazy goat. ”
