The massive, bearded Edholm Varwijk is the head coach, general manager and assistant captain of the team. Forty years ago, he hit upon the idea to train goats to play sports. Thirty years ago, he bought his first goat. Twenty years ago, he started training them. Three years ago, he designed the basket that allows a goat to hold an object. From there, Blood Bowl fame was inevitable. He went off on tour with the herd, leaving his rutabaga fields untended and his wife slightly confused.
Ed, who takes the field in an ornate suit of armor he's bought with his winnings selling carnival tickets, has a variety of tasks in addition to managing the team and training the goats. He frequently serves in a sort of quarterback role for the squad; the baskets help the goats hold the ball, but hands are still ideal. He's also needed to ward off any opposing players who are trying to manhandle his teammates; he has a finite supply of goats, and can't have them getting hurt too badly. He's also responsible for bailing the goats out of jail if they're arrested for maiming someone during the game or getting into a brawl at the local pub. Finally, he is largely responsible for pulling the brightly colored carnival wagon that serves as the team's base of operations.
