“OTDWD were all over us for much of the first half today but in the end a draw was had.
To start the Wood Elves received. We tried to mark up all their receivers but after the Tree rooted they easily knocked a Wight aside and two catchers combined with a pass for a quick TD.
They then did a long kick which Son of Draknil went back for but fumbled. He grabbed it 2nd time but wasn't too well protected as a zombie tripped when rushing back to cage. Shaughnessy the Wardancer brilliantly leapt in, took the Ghoul down and caught the scattered ball. After some hits the Faceless Hunter took the ball but tried to skip past the Treeman and was brought crashing down. The Ghouls seemed clumsy so far. An Elf catcher Millie almost got away for the TD but Son of Draknil chased her down and stunned her. The possession turned back and forth again, and by the end of the half we just hadn't got enough players forward to get the crucial equalizer as the one player in range was brought down. Good work by the Elves though late in the half they suffered permanent injuries to Millie and Shaughnessy, as the Undead flexed their embalmed muscles, and with the talented Wardancer not returning from the KO box things looked better for us to draw in the 2nd half.
Coach Gary made an error again by seeming confused and setting up to kick instead of receive. But with our extra numbers it was straightforward to get to the other half. The game petered out with scattered fights and a cautious stall, so it ends 1-1.
The Mountain doubled his cas count today, earnt the MVP, and has learnt how to block solidly.”
