#13 Whirlpool II – Broken Ribs (MNG) #13 Whirlpool II – Smashed Hip (-MA) #14 Earthquake II – Broken Ribs (MNG)
“His luck meter lies, it should be WAY higher. Nary a one of his nigglers (including a double-niggler) missed the game, while my star thrower did. My tree missed the first half, he received to start, leaving my poor elves to suffer under the fists of his mummies. Three cas in the first two turns, and a bouncing ball lands in the mitts of his mummy, who then slowly proceeds down the pitch to score at the end of the half, raking in another cas along the way. By this point I can field all of 4 elves, but one of them is my one-turner Lightning, and behold, my opponent learned what true speed is. 1-1 at the half.
Second half, my tree's here, but both wd's are either hurt/ko, and again I'm only fielding 4 players. Three on the line, my one-turner by himself by the sidelines, nobody in the backfield to take the kick. But I'm elves, speed to burn and long passing's the name of the game...except in a blizzard...Flashfire is able to come off the line to retrieve the ball deep in our territory, but the snow prevents him from getting it to anybody else. Amazingly, he is able to run the ball in over the course of the next three turns to take the lead!
I only field 3, leaving my one-turner on the sidelines to protect him in case he's needed one last time. The undead advance the ball very quickly, scoring in only two turns, rather to my surprise. I line up (again, only 4) and luck is with me, a touchback! Give it to Lightning, but my opponent has learned to block the sidelines better against me. Have to clear the path, which I do, albeit burning my rr. No problem, I'll still make it says I! Would have, too, if not for the blizzard making 2+ rolls gfi's into 3+, resulting in Lightning bh'ing himself! There's absolutely no way I can stop him from scoring now, esp when my last desperate attempt--my sole remaining catcher blitzing for a 2d-his pick--never gets near him, ko'ing himself on a failed dodge.
Two MNG, one losing the speed boost his last skill gave him (now I feel cheated I didn't use the double-5 roll for something else), lost fans (nothing new there), lost the game (again, nothing new there) and now I'm left to wonder about the future of the team. There are some nice players, but the team just ain't there to support the players. Might be time to start a new woodie team, at least then I'll be able to field 11 players...”
