“Game was much closer than the score indicates, up until halfway through the second half. At that point it was 3-2, I had the ball and was driving. My str 4 lineman has the ball in scoring position, he can't reach him without some hefty dodging and gfi's. Which of course he manages to pull off without using a single rr, ball landing in the hands of his str 4/agi 5 wardancer. I blitz, but despite 6 dice I can't manage to bring him down, and the game's effectively over. He dodges his wd away, passes upfield, and off he scores very quickly, 4-2. Lineup for the kick, I'm down 2 scores with humans and only 3 turns to equalize, so time to get wreckless and desperate. A chainpush promotion to a one-turner should give us a glimmer of hope...
...until of all the times in the game, I get a POW/skull-rr-POW/skull result on his blodger, one of the few times I'm able to get the damn elf to the ground, only this time I wanted him on his feet so I could chain-push! Well, time to try scoring the old fashioned way, the two-turn score (heavily desperately modified, as all my guys were set up for a chainpush score and not to block for a regular one), then hope for a blitz on the kickoff...
...but a fumbled pass allows him to race the ball the other way for yet another score, now down 5-2 as he hasn't failed a single roll the last 4 turns, and when your opponent is woodelves with that kind of luck, there's not a blessed thing you can do to stop the insanity. All you can do is lineup one more time to try for a one-turn chainpush score to salvage some pride...
...until the enemy crowd invades the pitch and wipes out half your team in cas/ko/stun, leaving it impossible to do more than a single blitz and then pass the ball for a single completion spp. The final insult.
Kit took advantage of what was given to him, which in the second half was basically the world on a silver platter. He knows how to use his woodies apparently far better than I know how to use my humans, who suffer yet another shameful defeat due to poor coaching. You'd think with my winning records using dwarves, elves, skaven that I'd be able to figure out how to win more consistently using my humans, but I just can't get them above a .500 pace or so, usually less. It's mighty frustrating at times, esp when the fans decide to add one last insult by leaving yet again. How teams are able to get and keep ff above 20 is completely beyond me, as I roll way too frickin' many 1's on ff rolls.
*sigh* It's 3:45 in the morning and I'm rambling while tired and frustrated, not a good combo. Maybe after some sleep I'll play better tomorrow...”
