In a rain washed match the Disgusting Things were simply unable to pick up the ball and merely pushed the Pirates around rather than driving their faces into the soaked pitch when they had the chance.

Shepherd was an excellent opponent despite some seriously frustrating luck, at one point (just after throwing a long bomb for the TD because I forgot it was raining) my luck was 100%!

Being unable to grab the ball (except when the ball was bouncing!:) meant that the Things never really made any progress towards scoring but at the same time as the match degenerated into a brawl the Pirates only had one last minute long shot to extend their lead.
