Maria is an Estalian lop-eared goat, a rare breed to see in the Empire. One of the newer arrivals on the team, Maria is actually a long-time member of the herd. Estalia is known for its large goats, and Farmer Ed purchased her to breed a new generation of bigger, more fearsome Blood Bowl players. When he saw how zealously she guarded her babies from threats, though, he decided to train her in the game instead.

Maria's kids include Buttercup, who played for the team but was fatally injured by a dwarf. The death of Buttercup, who was a fan favorite for her playful style but frequently seemed distracted from the game, has led Maria to be even more fiercely protective of her herdmates, and dissuaded Farmer Ed from putting any more goats that young into the game.
