Chapter III, Verse XXIV

Gomes proved his worth during the Third Crusade, of which many say was the Inquisition's first true Crusade. It was here that the barbaric Norse tribes were shown no mercy in the violent Game of Frod, the chosen trial of our lord eternal.

The first Sacred Leap had the wild tribe scattered, their ranks fell beneath the might of the Inquisition and it's Inquisitors. However, during the second Sacred Leap, the Norsemen began to rally their strength and push aggressively into Slann territory. It was here that Gomes and his fellow Brothers of Slantioch were forced to contend with the monstrous Yeti, known to the Norse as Old Dave. The beast had been driven off once before but had returned to enact vengeance upon the Inquisition. Alone they would have fallen, but together they had the opportunity to fend off the beast or even strike a mighty blow with great risk to their own lives. Gomes was not afraid. He had heard a voice from the great Saint Slantioch himself, telling him that his fist would sing true and that his life would be spared from the beast.

Faith guided Gomes and he struck the beast with the aid of his Brothers, and both he and the Yeti were knocked to the ground with a earth shattering crack. Old Dave had been dealt a near mortal wound, one which may never heal, driving him from the Sacred Field of Frod's Game. At first Gomes appeared to be unmoving and without life where he had been struck by the yeti, but by the miracle of Frod, he rose with no injury to his name, save a white scar across his cheek. A reminder to those who would dare cross Gomes, Brother of Slantioch, the Yeti Slayer.

With the monstrous beast cast away for the second time the Norse tribes knew their defeat was at hand and thus they fled the Sacred Field. But they would not forget the Inquisition nor would they forget Gomes, the Yeti Slayer.
