Fritz was a small town farmboy who impressed a travelling merchant with his intellect at a young age. The merchant's brother had recently opened a school for magic and was looking for potential students. Although Fritz's family couldn't afford to pay for such an education, the man was kind and willing to accept a steady supply of fresh fruits and vegetables instead. Thus began the career of my longest-lived, and easily my favorite, AD&D character ever!
Fritz is the exception to the rule of my guys, having been raised from Level 1 all the way to his current status of Level 21. (Most of my high-level characters were "promoted" to said level to be instantly ready for a high-level adventure, then dumped after.) He's seen a vast array of experiences in his playing time...piloted a magical starship through the heavens...travelled to Ravenloft, the nightmare land of Transylvania, and found a way to escape the mists...he rode a flying carpet over the desert, sailed the sea on the back of a giant turtle, battled giants and befriended dragons...he's done it all! As age eventually caught up with him, he began to research ways to lengthen his remaining days, eventually culminating in transforming his very physical being into a lich, an undead creature of intense magic. Now his adventuring days are past, and he lives out his centuries content to teach other students (for baskets of fruit and vegetables, of course) in his floating tower in the sky.
As an invoker (war-mage), Fritz specialized in throwing bolts of magical energy into the faces of his enemies. On a bloodbowl pitch, that translates best into throwing touchdown passes to his friends.
