Makus, while happy to be involved in the Red Wings organisation, once harboured an aspiration to a different position.
"I always wanted to be a thrower; me and my brother Jyvir used to spend time passing the ball back and forth while throwing blocks at the kids trying to play with us. The fact that both of us were 30 years older than them didn't stop them trying, bless the little tykes. I used to feel really bad if we would accidentally kill one of them, but that was just how it was."
Eventually, however, Makus joined the Red Wings as a Lineman after training camp.
"While I enjoyed throwing, I found it was cutting into the amount of time I could spend hitting things, which I liked even more."
Makus still acts as the teams 'backup' thrower while his brother, Jyvir, completes training camp as a true Thrower to back up veteran Thrower "The High Priest" Zex Marquis, and his childhood accuracy still remains with him.
