Velocipes is the youngest and frailest skink on the team, not to mention the most clumsy. Grace, agility, dexterity, whatever you wanna call it, this skink simply doesn't have it. To make matters even worse, he is the incarnation of back luck, and the other team mates shun him in fear of getting jinxed themselves.

Velocipes flaws were quite blatantly shown in his first game, when he had the ball. Due to the efforts of the team - and not the efforts of Velocipes himself - a cage composed of sauruses and skinks slowly made it's way down to the endzone. When everything was ready and every last opponent pushed out of the way, or knocked down for that matter, Velocipes was ready to make his formidable skills at failing known to the thousands of fans watching the game.

With an escort of five teammates, Velocipes moved towards the endzone with the ball in his hands, and when there was only a single step left, he went for the glory. Unfortunately, he found misery instead - and all team, including the coach got their share of it, not to mention the thousands of disappointed fans. (or the opponent's fans laughing).

As mentioned before, there was only a single step left when Velocipes went for the glory, but then the abysmal jinx got the better of him. He fell down, dropped the ball, broke his neck and died to the teams everylasting shame. All of this at the very finish line, where he had the chance to score the deciding touchdown, that would win his team the match. What happened instead was that the opponents took the ball from his corpse and went down and made a touchdown themselves, winning the match.

Velocipes did survive the match though, as the team apothecary fixed him up with a fair bit of magic, which most of the team regrets to this very day. His frail bones were easier to mend than hard ones, so Velocipes was ready for the next match as well. Actually, the judges were fairly amused by his "break neck, loose ball and the entire game" stunt, so they gave him the honored "Most Valuable Player" award which the rest of the team took as a great insult. Velocipes though didn't notice the sour looks, and he happily jumped along with a smile on his face.

What he didn't know though, was that the head coach, by request of the team, had secretly decided to place him - alone - in the middle of the line of scrimmage..
