The Mighty Red Devilfish! The Fighting Reds! The land of Fishchester is a gray, rainy, cold, outcrop of jagged land, not suitable for agriculture. The elves who inhabit these shores, banished from more habitable terrain, have adapted to the terrors of the sea. An elf birthed in Fishchester has but two destinies: to brave the icy waters of her borders as a sailor… or to play Blood Bowl. The tales told in Fishchester of an ancient, forgotten sport of men who inhabited the island before the elves set foot there, known as football, has given them a special appreciation for the brutality of sport. Which involved two teams of 11 warriors attempted to kick a ball into opposing goals. No players except the 'Goalkeepers' could strike the ball, or their opponents with their hands. Contact was allowed against other players but only in the form of kicking and tripping. Of all the teams to have played football on the island, the great champions ‘Manchester United’ were the mightiest. The elves, having formed teams, played football against each other for years. In 2305, they placed the best players from all the teams of the land onto a single team, taking names of the venerated football players of the island's past and traveled to the mainland on the team’s ship ‘Old Troutford’, seeking competition and violence. They were not disappointed when they were told of ‘Blood Bowl’. Ever since that trip across the oceans, Fishchester has been a land of Blood Bowl players, coaches, and fanatics. Though the game is different, Fischester United carries on that same proud spirit as the team that first inspired them. They outskill, outsmart, and outplay their opponents, giving up nothing easily, and striking the mightiest of players down with an ancient technique of sliding into the knees of an opposing player, which is an excellent way to take out larger less agile players... that is if the big oafs don't fall onto the person sweeping their feet out from under them. This tenacity has naturally led to ‘The Red Devilfish’ becoming one of the most popular teams in the Old World, both for their excellent scoring drives, and uniquely effective tackling skills. Blood Bowl fans everywhere look forward to the bright future of Fishchester United, knowing that they are a team to watch, and anticipate them reaching even greater heights in the future.
