Dragontamers of Dun-Thanak When Kagnir Anvilpeak, son of Romstala Anvilpeak and prince of Dun-Thanak, vanquished the dragon Arraxos, there was celebration for a month throughout the keep. At the climaz of these celebrations Romstala summoned his son to the side of his throne and proclaimed: "Brave of heart and strong of arm is my son, and great is the deed he has done. I ask you now, Kagnir Anvilpeak, not only as your proud father, but as your Lord and King. Name what you would have for your reward, and I shall grant it!" The entire hall fell silent, everyone waiting with baited breath for the prince's decision. He took but a few moments to ponder this, before giving his answer. Tired of the extreme isolation that Dun-Thanak had exercised for generations, he spoke thus: "Father, I am not a goblin in a cage. I am a dwarf, my father's son, proud and strong and fierce. And while my heart swells with pride at the fine dwarves stood before us, there is also shame. Shame that all the greatness in this hall is hidden away. The name Dun-Thanak is long-forgotten to the outside world, and noone knows or recognises our history and deeds. For my reward I would have that we venture out into the outside world. A group of our finest, with the banner of Dun-Thanak held high. We shall show the young men and ethereal elves that we are dwarves. That we are of stone, and of steel and of honour! I want that the name Dun-Thanak once again inspires respect into the hearts of all decent creatures of the world, and fear to the wicked" At hearing this Romstala despaired. For although the words had moved him, Dun-Thanak could ill afford a war at such short notice. He was about to express these concerns when his son continued. "We do not set forth to conquer, for we are no army. But in the world outside, they still practice the old tradition of Nuffle's Ball, or Blood-Bowl as they call it. I ask that we hold a tourney, to find the best Nuffle's Ball players of Dun-Thanak. Then this team will take to the roads of the world, and show them just what mettle we are made of." At this, there was a roar of approval from the gathered dwarves and for the next year, the sounds of helmeted heads clashing and bodies colliding rang throughout the keep. Once the team was assembled, King Romstala Anvilpeak named it The Dragontamers, in recognition of his son's great deed a year ago. Now the Dragontamers of Dun-Thanak wander as they promised. Taking up games when the opportunity presents itself, and fighting with the dour determination and pride that only a dwarf can...
