His observations on the team, and the players is, well, unique to say the least. The team owner has not thus far been available for comment. -ed.</i> ...So, I sez to me Master, after lugging an 'alf-dozen corpses up de stairs to 'is lab'ritory. “Y'know,” I sez. “We almos' 'ave the makin's of an 'alf-decen' Blood Bowl team.” An' then 'e looks at me wif that look that sez '<i>Shut up y'git, y'talk too much'</i> but I can't 'elp meself 'cuz I got this idea in me 'ead an' it won't let go, y'know? I mean, I've always wantid t'play in a team, but I can't on account of me allergy to injury, and so I sez, “No, no, 'ear me out. We've go no, whatchacollit, local rep-re-sentation, an these boy's'd love t'ave been on a team, when they wasn't dead that is.” By then we'd already had a few of the local lads moanin' about the place, wif no real direction, dropping bits o'themselfs on the rugs and trying t' eat the cat. Of course, 'e starts on about 'is <i>plans</i> an' 'is army, dronin' on like 'e does, an I havta remind 'im wot 'appen'd <i>last</i> time 'e tried that. I 'avta say that runnin' for me life while bein' chased wif burnin' brands ain't me idea of fun. But anyway, I sez, “Y'don' 'avta give up too many of the lads, and the pitch is the perfec' place t' train 'em an' all.” An' so 'e finally relented, grumblin' about uppity workers or somesuchfing. 'E let me 'ave an' 'andful of the moanin' lads, and I knew a coupla ghouls from me time 'angin' out at the graveyard 'nd all. The wolfies were a snatch, all I 'ad t' say was “Blood” an they was all eager like, I dinna even havta finish me sentence. 'Avin' the makin's of ova team we started t' practice in the graveyard. Event'lly me Master came down an' 'ad a look at us. One word 'e sed, that was all, “Mongrels”, sez he an it stuck. Jerry from the Mausoleum at the end o' the yard, 'e came over one night an' 'ad a play wif us an' 'e stay'd around. Once we started using his place as the team 'all the name just came t'gever, y'know? I do 'avta say that me Master was awfully kind t' finally let Stitches play. 'E was feeling left out, y'see, on account o'me being wif the team an' all. Boy was 'e ever glad t' be on the pitch. Them wolfies was glad too, specially once he start'd gettin' on the idea of hittin' the other team.... |
