House Craban - remarkable large in numbers (for high elves), but also lacking talents for the arts, politics and warfare - has decided to shine in bloodbowl instead; not just at home, but all over the world. Not being great travelers in addition, they didn't know much about the game beyond the so-called "elfball" and realized this could be a major flaw. So, while the nobles were preparing athletically for their great shining in minor and major tournaments, their personal trainers were sent out to learn more about the game in a merciless league called the "Blackbox"... Years later the nobles gave up after their first game had been a loss, but the former coaching staff had turned into a competitive tournament team.
