| The Hive world Necromunda is a harsh place. Brothers Epix and Nepix Arquette were born there. They were members of a Goliath community, well known for their strength. When Epix grew tired of working in one of the more reasonable cities in the Underhive, he bade farewell to his brother and family and ventured to the Wetlands, an area soon to become notorious for its lawlessness. He asked around the local watering holes and put together a gang, called The Unwoundables. The name, tragically, had an ironic ring to it, as Epix himself was killed in their first excursion, attempting a misjudged raid on one of the most reknowned gangs in the area, the Steelfists, led by Guy Steelfist. The gang attempted to continue under the name The Maimers, after Maim Man took over, but soon disbanded in acrimony. Word about Epix' demise got back to his brother, Nepix, who made the perilous trek to the Wetlands to seek some sort of retribution for his brother's death. He met Epix' former gangmates, and decided that he would not take this defeat lightly, and neither should the rest of the gang. So, with Nepix as leader, the gang reformed as FURY - a name that summed up the feelings of Nepix at the time. The gang lasted a long time in the crime-and-poverty-stricken Wetlands, through deaths of gangmates and running from the law (Guy Steelfist had risen to Mayor of the city). The original gangmates - Nepix, Brutach, Big Pecs, Asbesta, Damnation - picked up numerous injuries and lost countless battles, but their unbeatable spirit made up for this. Battered and bruised, it came to the point where they had taken it all, and the newly-formed gangs simply could not beat the old pros. Eventually, of course, after becoming one of the most famous gangs in the area, they had to retire, purely for their health. They used the money earned from their (often criminal) exploits - along with a good-natured pardon from the local law enforcement - to buy a patch of land far from the Wetlands where they could live in peace. They often would play cricket with shot puts in their retirement, as they had when an active gang, but in the region they had moved to an amateur Blood Bowl Sevens league had sprung up. They decided to take this on, as a hobby after their retirement - it is an amateur sport after all. They were well known from the Wetlands, so they managed to get bumper crowds for their matches. Surprisingly, they managed to win the league at the second attempt, most likely due to their sheer strength compared to their amateur opponents from other Houses. They found this to be great fun, and thought that, thanks to the friends they had gained in high places, they might be able to get a one-way trip off of Necromunda to try out in the big leagues, professional Blood Bowl. Of course, the nine gang members were enough for a BB Sevens team, but not enough for the pro leagues. Thus, they contacted an old gang they knew from the Wetlands, Exitus. They were a Delaque gang obsessed with the music of Bob Marley, and reggae music in general. The gang had long since disbanded when Nepix contacted them, but the offer of getting out of the Underhive was too good to resist. The four main members of the gang - Doc Marley, Ganja, Kingston and Wailer - joined the team as Catchers and Linemen. Thus, the 13 man team, FC FURY, were ready to begin their journey. When they saw the quality around in the major leagues, they were taken aback - this wasn't amateur stuff anymore. Thus, their stats look like a new gang, even though they've played before. Relative to their opponents, the stats are accurate. What will the ageing Goliath superstars of Necromunda achieve in the pro leagues? We shall wait and see. |
