For three hundred years, The Knobbins Family Sploshers was the noblest, most successful halfling blood bowl team in their shire. They were cheered for, carried on shoulders and sponsored by the biggest foot hair shampoo company in the country. The average lifespan for a Knobbins was severely impacted by the pastime of course, but as it was considered a great honor to be smeared onto the pitch, nobody complained... ..at least until a fateful game took place seven years ago, where the patriarch, Shove Knobbins and seven other members fell under the onslaught of a chaos team. The son of Shove, Knob Knobbins, rash and headstrong, started a populist campaign suggesting the Knobbins had been on the wrong side of the hurt for too long. With newly-developed Food Additives, they could completely reshape their future, perhaps some day even win a game! At first, there was great unease and infighting but a trial period was eventually agreed upon. After a game where the halflings beat up a bunch of goblins and only one halfling died, the point seemed to have been proven. Food Additives were the way forward. The steroids made the halflings stronger, tougher, meaner but also stiffer and slower. Their hair grew thicker and in places they'd never imagined possible. Their arms, their new big muscly arms were too stiff to grip the ball. Their big muscly feet were too stiff to tread the ground. Their big muscly beards had become too manly for their brethren to look upon. The dishonorable practice of doping robbed the Knobbins Family Sploshers of most of their fans immediately and the remainder were driven away by the lack of tension in their games. The Knobbins were furious, of course. For once, they were surviving more than three games consistently. For once, they were winning so much as one in four games. And the crowd wanted them to go back? NEVER. The treemen on the team, Squareroot Longshanks and Root Sixtysix both left in a huff after a heated discussion of team tactics where they had been called wusses and Knob Knobbins made several rude references to Medium Density Fiberboard and the production process thereof. As Squareroot Longshanks had been the owner of their previous brand, a new team name had to be chosen. Today, the Misguided Halflings are bitter, mean and alone. You hate them and they hate you back. This is not a game. This is FREEEDOOOOOMMM! Pirog Knobbins will receive the skill "leap" on its first doubles, excluding +st and +ma rolls. This is a vital step in improving the racial diversity of <s>dwarf</s> halfling teams and opening new horizons in the evolution of Blackbox in general. Pirog shall never have the Mighty Blow skill. |
