Team Owner: Log Cutters and Sawmills Foresters Association Head Coach: c9805222 Team Colours: Red and Blue with Gold Trim Team Sponsor: ReBlock Motto: Sluggers smashing you for a home run! Ground: Mighty Redwood Arena Talabheim Sluggers Season 1: The inaugrual DLE season and the Log Cutters and Sawmills Foresters Association of Talabheim uses its wealth and contacts to form the Talabheim Sluggers, rumours abound that the Sluggers are just a front for money laundering activities carried out by the Log Cutters and Sawmills Foresters Association , however critics are silenced when the Sluggers announce their intent to be contenders by making Louis Slugg their Franchise player and bringing in Big_Tschad as the head coach. Anthony Barr, a future Hall of Fame player, is drafted. Season 2: Big_Tschad leaves the team in mysterious circumstances, in a hurry to bring in a coach for his replacement the Sluggers board hire unknown rookie c9805222. Mainly known for his dealings with Ogres and Dark Elves, c9805222 is an unknown quantity within the DLE and looks to be successful ending Season 2 4/0/1 However the results hide the loss of key players, and the inexperience of c9805222 is shown in his draft and trades, leading to a slightly weaker than anticipated team to start Season 3. Season 3: A poor start to the season is forgotten with a mid season surge which sees the Sluggers looking like potential play-off candidates. Unfortunately divisional rivals the Bandits strengthen significantly during the midseason trade window, bringing in Allen Cortez . The Sluggers are unable to keep pace with the Bandits and finally opt to improve their draft position once the play-offs are beyond hope and throw the final two games of the season. Season 4: Buoyed by an excellent draft and having a number of new players in the team, the Sluggers coach and fans have high expectations. These expectations are brought crashing back to reality as the death toll mounts, the loss of Franchise player Louis Slugg and the death of 2 1st round picks in the opening 3 games leaves the Sluggers looking a little lacklustre. Further deaths in the form of King Hill, Keith Wenning, Deckard Shaw plus the sacking of the Frank 'Alli' Gore means the Sluggers remain rooted to the bottom of the entire league. The only bright spot of the season - a single victory over the Bandits. Season 5: Seasons Players Season 3: Anthony Barr flexes in the mirror, the physique is flawless, high elves buy his sponsored hair products but is it enough? A season 1 contender for player of the year. Season 2 was disappointing, not even selected for the Pro Bowl squad, Barr looks at his reflection. Is it worth anything? Is he the killer everyone believes he is? Today is the day, he comes up against long standing rival Dont'a Hightower of the team people fancy to win the superbowl. Don'ta is supported by the likes of Khalil Mack and Deone Bucannon both fearsome opponents on their own yet Barr knows, the only truth is when you and your opponent look each other in the eye and one of you knows the other will take everything you can give to visit more pain on you, than you can visit on them to break not only your body but your will. Barr knows that Hightower will fall underneath him. Hightower will break. Barr grins, after today he will be the the PREMIER killer within the DLE, Hightower, Khalil, these are yesterdays men, the new man, the one to take centre stage is here. Barr will rule the division. Today Barr and the Sluggers will lay down the marker that other teams will be measured by and fall short too. Then Barr sniggers, thinking of work the groundsmen are doing, as special welcome to the Sluggers ground, regardless of how this goes players WILL die, the Patriots will break and Barr will get more revenue from his sponsorship, maybe even that deal with luxary leather and witch elves will happen. The future is good, the future is Barr and Sluggers. https://fumbbl.com/p/match?id=3872568 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMSDhb-DIzM Season 4: Do you have a player that just can't hit? Well Frank 'Alli' Gore is that player for the Sluggers. Averging 8 blocks a game with mightty blow this chap who we got expensively from that vampire loving Niners team seems to have run out of steam without access to the Niners 'vitamins and minerals' supplements. What to do? Well Frank, has been enrolled at a crash course of blocking, strength and agility training at non-other than the Fumbbl famous Heavy Lifting Gym here he is put through his paces by legendary ogre blockers such as Dirty Harry and Smash, through this extra intense training (and the threat of having to share the ice bath with said ogres), Frank has promised Sluggers fans that in his next match, he'll be the last thing the opposing players ever see... In other news, Oday really is failing to live up to his billing from the draft and despite the Oday challenge (see a couple of posts below), he has not improved. In fact in 4 games he has only managed 26 turns on the pitch and a measly 3 blocks... Speculation is rife that a deal will be done to move him on... The draft: The Sluggers drafted a total of 7 players. Dion 'The Beast' Jordan is rumoured to be the illegimate lovechild of Khalil Mack and a female ogre cheerleader from the Patriots team. Whilst not yet the finished article, the Sluggers are planning to build their defence around Dion, as he's skill set will allow him to bring down the opposing ball carriers or bust a hole open in their cages. Cordarrelle is strong and quick, one of the best all round athletes to have been drafted in the DLE. He's excited to call the Sluggers home, a team known for its entertaining and speedy plays. The Oday Challenge. Oday 'Bash' Aboushi was pick no. 77 in Draft 4. He seemingly had the skillset to improve himself and become the equivalent of a 1st rounder. Here's what the Talabheim Sluggers Press Department released after his selection by coach c9805222: "'Bash' Aboushi has cited Bish 'the Bash' Bosh as his childhood hero and has worked hard to perfect his attacking manouvers, expect to see him throwing crunching tackles on the opponents receivers on defence, whilst on offence he will throw his weight around on the LOS." However his introduction to professional bloodbowl has certainly been a baptism of fire. In 3 games he has only manged 17 turns on the pitch, some Sluggers fans would argue that his sending off in the first turn of the 2nd half is 1 of the key factors in there 2nd half collapse vs. the Altdorf Thunderbolts. It was certainly his lack of blocking prowess (rerolled 2d block) that led to the death of fellow draftee D.J. 'The Midfield General' Flukers death at the hands of Flashfarts ogre. Given his poor start to the season, c9805222 has issued Oday with an ultimatum - improve or be sold. There is already some interest in Oday and he now has until the mid season trade window to improve (get block) or be sold. Does this player have the character to make this challenge or will he be remembered as the 'almost' player that never quite made it? |
