The Red Knuckle tribe have the misfortune of being rather diminutive orcs (relatively speaking). They have always struggled to compete with their neighbours in warfare and on the blood bowl pitch. But lately they have been finding more success* using "kunnin strateegee". As far as the orcs are concerned, this involves getting into a typical maul, but the goblins which accompany them are expected to do something clever. Their duties include concerning themselves with unnecessary details like "sabotajin da ovva guys", and "bullyin da ref". On the pitch their duties include "gettin da ball" (boring) before "givin it 'ere fer me ta score". They are assistants to help the orcs get the better of their opponents in a fight, and should said assailant survive the orc's tackle, the goblin must "put da boot in" to create the appearance of the orc having "smashed 'em good". Now and then the troll needs "pointin da rite way an feedin". There is one time when the goblins are allowed a shot at glory; if anything truly 'ard is facing off against the team, the goblins get the first attempt at "'avin a go" at taking them on. Under no circumstances should a goblin prove successful in their own right, those that start to exhibit skills are inevitably chosen as the pre-match blood sacrifice for the orcs to coat their knuckles with. The orcs are all egotistical psychopaths with ideas far above their station. They take on the names of orcs of legend in the hopes of channeling their abilities, but before long their superiority complex kicks in and they believe themselves more successful than their namesake. Goblins are also given names from lore, but it's done ironically (or what might pass as irony considering its coming from an orc). Given the high turnover of the goblins on the team, it is funny to dub the rookie 'Grom the paunch' after two Groms have died this week alone. *Occasionally they don't lose Update: Are the orcs getting soft? They've decided to let a goblin live, despite having scored two touchdowns! Turns out they prefer even a goblin scoring to losing... who would have thought? Update 2: Ah, now the goblin wasn't pulling his 'star' weight, so he was lynched. There's no way to win as a goblin in BB, or in life generally. |
