Carrot Crunch carnage
Played my first-ever live BB tournament this weekend, at the Carrot Crunch near Sudbury in the UK. (LRB6 rules I think? - 2008 update anyways).

Brought along a human team, only to find that one of my mates had also brought a spare nurgle team - all unique models he'd tweaked himself and painted to a fantastic standard.

Without a second thought, I nabbed it and put together a scratch nurgle team with beast, two warriors, 3 pestigors and six rotters and 2RRs.

I found myself paired up against dwarves (win 1-0), Purplegoo's own Nurgle team (win 1-0 after he failed on two GFI attempts to score) and SillySod's norse (win 2-0 after he ran out of players) on day one.

Day Two; got the short end of the stick and made the wrong selections for the three free skill choices we had for the last three games. Took tackle twice and strip ball, thinking that, out of the top ten teams, half of them were elves and 'zons (and one halfling). Unfortunately, I got orcs, orcs and more orcs - three games in a row.

All fielded four BoBs, four blitzers and a troll, so found myself outskilled, outstrengthed and outtoughed for most of the day. Nonetheless, came away with a credible two draws (one of which should have been a win, but for some great turn 8 shenanighans from a rather jaded opponent).

Lost my final match - against Hogshine of all people. Brilliant game to end the tourney with, which ebbed and flowed nicely. Made a tactical error in the second half, keeping a pestigor alone in the backfield in an effort to make a hole to score. As it was, the orcs broke through and decided the game with a score in the final turn.

Had a great time; and was rlly pleased to meet some fumbbl-ers face to face for the first time - Hoggie, 'Goo, SillySod, et al. Thanks go to pigstar-69 (you grinning lothario) for the brazen invite a couple of months ago.

Great venue, great games and we were treated like sandwich-eating kings for the whole weekend. Very happy to come away with 3wins, 2draws and 1loss. Weak offense, with only 5TDs, but a fantastic 2TDs against from six games.

Looking forward to the next one!

Great result mate, especially with rotters! You will learn that on tabletop you can always rely on purplegoo to fail crucial dice rolls... ;P

And next time I see Hoggy, I'll give him a slap for using orcs, the cheating swine.

Tabletop tournies are great - there were about 20 fumbblers at the GT last month!

Damn your claw proof armour, orcs were what you deserved! :P

My new Rats have been ordered and are on their way, so hopefully I will be able to get along to a tournament soon too.

Have to get some practice in ready for next years GT \o/

It was a great tourny, very well run, but laid back and everyone seemed to have a good time. Plenty of FUMBBLE'rs there again.

SillySod even washed his hair with Dog Shampoo over the weekend to get into the spirit :D

Glad you had a great time, hope to see you next year.

I always thought that the way we did the rosters would help rotters and the like.

Hehe - my CAS record of 6-17 and blocks failed due to my ugliness (4 in 6 games!) tell more of a story than those failed 2+'ses.

I was a bit gutted not to get my third win against those 0 RR CDs in game 6, but after 6 CAS against, the 3 win dream died and I had to cling to parity with my ruddy MA5 rubbish buggers. You certianly played really well against me, so despite your tripwires, I'll let you off winning. ;)

Good result, and see you soon! Was good to meet you.
