Life from the start...
WELL, I'm at work.. AND I'm bored, SO, I've decided that when I get a moment or two, from now on, I'm going to keep a blog on how I'm getting on within the Fumbbl universe.

See, I used to play the Blood Bowl tabletop game, years ago, as well as practically every Games Workshop boardgame going! And while Fantasy Battle was always my own personal favourite, and Quest was always the most frequently played, Blood Bowl was ALWAYS the most fun.

I mean, what a great concept it is for a start. It's completely ridiculous, the idea that every now and then, these races who hate each others guts decide to take some time out from hacking/biting/gouging/hammering each other to death on a battle field to win back some land/treasure/lawnmower, descend to a local football pitch and proceed to (admittedly) hack/bite/gouge/hammer each other over a spiky oval ball!!

However, my Blood Bowl days seemed completely in the realms of my teens, along with all the other GW games I used to play and still love.

But then, out of the darkness came light. Couple of weeks ago, sitting in my mates house as we prepare to begin our weekly tribute to our former geekness through the medium of a roleplay game, I mentioned Blood Bowl, and that i used to love playing it. "We've got a set upstairs" says my mate, "Yeah I've got one at my house too" says another....

An hour later, and we were well into setting up a little mini-league to be played weekly on two Pitches on my mates dining room table. This sparked my long dormant interest, and I began some heavy research...

I knew there was only 1 race for me, always has been, always will. ELVES, and out of the three races available on the TT game, I plumped for Woodies. They suit my Idea of the game down to the ground, I WANT to see those huge passes and dodging runs, I'd rather frustrate my opponent by not letting him smack me down than putting him on the ground myself. Which to be honest, is about the only thing you can do to SURVIVE with a team of woodies, at least in the beginning.

However, it had been well over 10 years since i'd last played, and, if I was going to play again, I wanted to be GOOD again. My old high elves used to rule amongst my friends, and of course I had been bragging this fact to my new batch of worthless* opponents. So when my first few TT games ended in defeat (including one embarrassing 6-0 thrashing by Skaven) I felt a shadow of my former self. And sought advice from the pages of the world wide web.. It was there, that I stumbled across, SkiJunkies Java applet. Which of course, is busy ruining my social life as we speak.

*(c'mon,, i'm Elves.. gotta get into character a bit!)
