Yet another ClawPOMB rant.
So how do get around this? I've started playing higher TV teams (between 1500k-2000k) and it's no coincidence that I've started getting bashed around, kicked into the floor, and generally battered by ClawPOMB. How do you get around this? Is FUMBBL just generally a bit dull once you hit this level of TV?

Nope, u just have to play better. There is numerous tactics to beat clopomb.
Posted by Roland on 2015-04-01 17:51:41
Probably...

Spectacular Elfbowl, occurs only +1500; and some races are fairly boring low due to the high failure rate (can be played for a challange or course).

'You have to play better' doesn't really sound like great advice, if I'm gonna be honest. I don't feel comfortable being forced into not enjoying the game because I'm not very good at it.

House Rules.
1. Fouling +1 to armour roll.
2. Claw does not stack with other skills that modify armour rolls.
3. Piling On allows coach to reroll injury only.
4. Right Stuff prevents the Tackle skill when blocked.
5. Sneaky Git functions like Guard on foul assists.
6. Banned sneaky git players are sent to the KO box instead.

Actually, there isn't really any advice for this, is there? It's just another round of bitching. Oh well, so sad.
Posted by Cloggy on 2015-04-01 17:59:57
As sad as it may be: you ALWAYS have the choice to not play against those teams. This does have the downside of not being able to use the Box and having to screen opponents in gamefinder, but if it really takes away your fun you have the power to stop it.
Posted by Merrick18818 on 2015-04-01 18:08:16
If I choose not to play against those teams, I'm never going to get a game.....they're the only ones that light up against my teams in Gamefinder.
Posted by PacoSillas on 2015-04-01 18:26:00
Then don't wait for people to light you (I usually do that also though, because I feel picky when offering up myself even if they are fair offers) and light up yourself. Unless your teams are CPOMB also someobody is bound to accept your offer.

Get better ;)

I have had more fun with my high TV teams than all the others and while Clawpomb can be an issue from game to game, you really can develop your skill as a coach to get around some of it. It might take the form of being less aggressive in the ways you mark, it might manifest itself in your setups being further back and letting him come to you (then springing the trap), you might find yourself fouling prone beastmen more.

And some days Nuffle just wants his pound of your flesh.

For real though, high TV games are thrilling and the journey to high TV can be its own reward.

Typical anti-ClawPOMB tactic:
Minimize opponents blocks each turn
Foul that silly clawPOMBer every time he's on the ground
Block the clawPOMBer every opportunity you get
Do the same with his other 3 clawPOMBers

Oh, and pay off a couple spare Apos

I feel just like you. It is a tactic to CPOMB through ones career, but I want to play the game. Sending people out is part of the game, and Nuffle can be a pickle sometimes. I just foul them with all I have. If my player gets send of then he is safe. I might loose the match, but BloodBowl isn't won today. ;)

The house rule 'the ref turns a blind eye if you foul someone who went down piling on' would be nice. =D

Never ever tease Nuffle !
What did you expect after your previous blog : 32 games...No RIP
Well deserved IMO :p

Never accept matches with people with more than 2 cpomb. Let them play between themselves
Posted by Sammler_der_Seelen on 2015-04-01 21:05:18
Play the Games You think it would be Fun And a Challenge.clawpomb isnt nothing of that ,so i ignore Teams like that ,they can play other clawpombers and Fine.its pointless to Play vs them.
Posted by sann0638 on 2015-04-01 22:07:59
Just play league.
Posted by Harad on 2015-04-01 22:46:33
I only had time to watch one of your replays:

1) watch replays of how good coaches play against clawpomb.
2) on defence you cannot put as many players in contact.

I hope that helps a little. It is difficult against these teams but if you can better yourself as a coach you will win more of them. There will always be some where you have no chance, but winning against these teams can be very satisfying.
Posted by licker on 2015-04-02 00:34:06
I don't see how it's satisfying to beat CPOMB teams. It's satisfying to DESTROY them, but just to beat them?

Beating them isn't that hard, it's just usually pretty tiresome to win and still loose 3+ players to perms and rips. Which is really what the complaint is about, not facing them now and again, but facing them all the time.

So yes, the answer is to play L.

You ask a lot of questions for a guy named the Think Tank. XD

I actually have gone out and hunted some CPOMB teams. After living the dream, I never have many issues with it. Bulk Guard or Dodge usually gives them trouble. Try Amazons. I have issues with the Min/Maxers that CPOMB splatter skills and stick at 150TV. I just try to stay higher (in TV not Weed) and have fun as much as possible (With Weed and not TV.)

Keggie says: "Stay high, have fun!"

I'm going to start going sh/hf before my matches.

Nice collection of worthy advice on how to cope with the problem.

Welcome to reality though. Dont be deluded, there is no solution, you should lose a good amount of matches against those teams (not unlikely the majority of it). And while it may be fun for awhile to enjoy those matches where you are on the killing side, they will be rare in a large sample and that period of fun clawpomb hunting short. Thats only probability.

No matter how good nuffle will be with you, one thing is for sure, the majority of games, no matter the result, will be frustrating to you and complete spoilers in the long run.

Better concentrate on the non-tactical advices given here, learning how you can dodge clawpomb on fumbbl the best so to still preserve as much fun as possible.
Posted by albinv on 2015-04-02 15:11:16
Wish i could say: follow the tactical advices given here, and you shall be able to come out on top or at least survive, so that you can keep box your preferred division.

Sadly though those advices along the lines of licker portrait a much better picture of box reality.

Refuse any Ranked match against a CPOMB spammer
If you meet one of them in the box, try to make the match as dull and boring for your opponent as you can. Avoid fight, avoid trying to stop his TD, simply stay away and make road for him to score and and then try to score yourself and tie, always avoiding any contact, do not chat, do not reply, do not grats and thanks. Use cheap players to freely foul CPOMBERS if they do not have jumpup. CMPOMB spammer do not deserve anynithing more than this.
CPOMB spammer usually do not have fun winning matches, but killing players. Let's spoil them of as much fun as we can, without waste our time trying to play blood bowl with them
