My
Uisghe Beatha Nosferatu made it to my very first major yesterday after
an epic match against Arktoris'
Hellbound Charioteers that ended in 3-2 after OT to win The Lustrian Challenge VI Qualifier VIII.
Both our top players got permed. I severely weakened their top passer
Captain Hero and our own sole legend, the beloved
Ardbeg Assassin, got a bad concussion tripping over his own feet while trying to correct a coaching error.
The team proved they could win even without the Assassin though, a fact the coach, despite the minor depression brought on by the guilt, is really happy about. Especially the relatively new player, but already an emerging star,
Beastly Bunnahabhain, picked up the slack with 2 scores, a repeat of his breakout perfomance against jimjo's
Pacman Runners in the
semi-final, which also ended at 3-2 after OT, despite the rats getting the ball for it. A pair of badly timed dodge-fails and a vampiric OT-defense I was pretty happy about cost the rats the game in that one.
The first game was another 3-2 victory, which was achieved against Purplegoo's
Sprite Crusaders who may well have been the toughest challenge of my qualifier, but a single little miscaculation on the opponent's part and an unlikely quick snap OTTD (also a first for me outside of an MA10 gunner quite a while ago) from this qualification campaign's MVP, the aforementioned
Beastly Bunnahabhain, gave us the win.
Yes, the road to Lustria has been a spectacular one, an unexpected one, a fun one and one that's made me quite a happy coach to have made my first major with my beloved vamps.
Now for a recovery game and then we set sail to the Vampire Coast. The unforlorning campaign is on!
