Awkward misclick
My opponent timed out during a match. I gave the obligatory "are you there," and waiting a bit longer. He reappeared! "Connection issues." "No problem," I said.

But then...whilst I was only half paying attention, I heard a "crunch" and saw that one of my players suffered a casualty. I know - ts and ps for me - but he regenrated! Hooray undead!

I reflexively went to click on reserves button to see which player it was when I ACCIDENTALLY clicked the "timeout" button, which is located, as it turns out, PERILOUSLY close to the reserve button.

Oh noes.

"Did you just time me out," he asked. "After I told you I had connection issues?"

"Oh sh!t." I tried to explain. I felt genuinely bad/embarassed, a little mad (he was, understandably, skeptical, but I was being honest!), but mostly embarrassed.

"I mean...the game can't be fair now," he said. I didn't disagree.

"Whatever you think is fair, I'll do," I offered. And I meant it. Cancel? Sure. Want to time me out back and finish? Sounds good.

"Whatever...I'm not in terrible spot, I guess we'll just play."

And play we did.

Later, in the second half, I asked for a minute (someone interrupted me in my office - can't they see that I am busy? Most annoying).

"NP. I'll try not to time you out."

This hurt me deeply.

We played on. I lost, which I'm glad about. He was a vastly superior player to me and I would have felt bad winning on a strange twist.

Anyhoo. If you noticed a strange imbalance, or felt a sudden pang like something in the universe had just gone horribly wrong, it was probably just me committing a supremely awkward misclicl.

Cheers,
RM

To be honest I was skeptical that it was a misclick at the time, that's why I was a little annoyed. If it was I apologize for being snippy with you.

Same thing happened to me in my last match. Very awkward moment. Fortunately I am such a terrible player it made very little difference to the outcome of the game.

look at mylink then make comedy jokes about it. far more entertaining than this misclick!

It's a shame there isn't a way to offer one's opponent a beer, or the equivalent. Glad you shared.

not sure if the coding is problematic, but I think the timeout button should be reverse in effect. Should be used to avoid the turnover not induce one.

I agree with Arktoris. The timer should count down to zero and automatically cause a turnover unless the person who is not playing chooses to pause it. That way, if something is going on IRL, you can simply say something like I have a crying baby I will be right back and the person who is not playing can push pause. It would also be easy to get a screenshot of the situation.

The problem with that option is that the timer keeps ticking when there is a disconnection and it would automatically time someone out. If you notice that the person has not moved a player in about a minute you could click the pause button and ask the person if he is still there and then wait to see if they are reconnecting.

I still prefer an automatic time out.

It was Morehouse?

You should have just timed him out and told him to stick it.

Learn your lesson: no mercy for morehouse.
