Guild ball
A new tabletop medieval football game on kickstarter.

Miniatures are nice.

Ah football, as in real football where the players kick the ball. It's no Blood Bowl but looks they have done well on their kickstart project.

An issue I see is the pitch without squares/hexagons.
That makes it more similar to a skirmish wargame than a board game, and more prone to human errors when moving the players/ball.

It can be any 3x3 space - with trees on the pitch, in a marketplace, in a stadium.

This actually looks kinda cool. I'd certainly be more tempted to pick this up than Elfball or Dreadball. And at only £1 for the rules I think I might do it right now :D

Personally, I think it looks great.

I'm trying the quick play rules on Saturday: http://www.guildball.com/Guildball_QPR_Public1.0.pdf

Free versions of the teams are available. Here's an example of the fisherman guild:

Yeah it's more a skirmish miniatures game than a boardgame and it looks very interesting for that.

I like skirmish games (played Necromunda and Gorkamorka), but for a fantasy sport game involving a ball I'd prefer a board with a grid: the pro is that's quicker to move stuff on it, the con is that a pitch with a grid allows less freedom of movement.
Thanks for the links btw!

The vid halfway down the page talks more about mechanics. It's a bit weird at first but I think I'd get used to it. It does say there are coming 'league rules' but due to the way he mentioned balancing teams and stuff I doubt there will be the skilling of mens.
